Junior Specialist (Statutory)

What we’re looking for  

We are seeking individuals who can manage the execution of plan approval and equipment certifications for marine pollution prevention related equipment’s and statutory plans in accordance with the applicable international standards (MARPOL, MEPC etc) using procedures, experience and knowledge appropriate for the design appraisal of plans for the above-mentioned aspects for new building/ conversion/ in service vessels.

The role  

• Execute plan appraisal and equipment certifications of marine pollution prevention related equipment’s and statutory plans in accordance with appropriate Lloyd’s Register Rules & Regulations, Statutory Regulations and International Standards, within the agreed parameters including budget constraints and contractual requirements.
• Perform activities in accordance with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
• Propose enhancements to service delivery effectiveness by suggesting changes to processes or work scope, aiming for a reduction in appraisal effort where applicable.
• Engage in technical discussions and provide guidance to both internal and external clients. Present deliverables to clients, discussing and offering solutions as needed.
• Assess and recommend the time and value of work for internal or external clients within agreed fee and cost structures.
• Handle administrative tasks as required, aligning with current processes and procedures.
• Pursue Continuous Professional Development, ensuring a high level of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.
• Coach less experienced colleagues and serve as a mentor, as agreed upon with the line manager.

What you bring  

• A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and / or relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer or engineer.
• Relevant Experience in the design, operation, manufacture or approvals of Marine Pollution prevention equipment’s and statutory manuals from Yard, Class, Ship owner, Designers, Manufactures etc. Candidates with lesser experience will be considered but at a lower position grade.
• Demonstrate good understanding of the maritime industry.
• Ability to multi-task, planning and organising with good time management skills. Good skill to conduct technical conversation with clients and maintain good relationships with client with client focus mind-set.
• A proactive approach to problem solving with a flexible attitude with the ability to remain calm under pressure and get the job done.
• Experience and ability of working across different nationalities and cultures.
• Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the requirements of the work, along with effective interpersonal skills.
