The Quality Control Lead Credit Officer will be apart of Quality Control within Chase Business Banking (BB) Risk Management. BB credit products typically include lines of credit and term loans that are collateralized by business assets ranging from cash and working capital assets to equipment and real estate. Credit requests typically range in size from $50 thousand to $30.0 million.

In this role you will lead and manage the Quality Control program for Graded and/ or Scored underwriting decisions in compliance with Regulations, Business Banking Risk & Firmwide policies/procedures. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is able to contribute to the overall vision and goals of the organization.

Your role will be a combination of (1) Lead and manage a team of quality control officers in India (30%) (2) Quality Control of underwriting decisions by conducting regular quality checks (50%), (3) Creation, distribution, and oversight of various monitoring reports (10%) and (4) Oversight on various governance initiatives across the business (10%). Candidate is expected to possess a strong credit and technical background including risk governance and process control skills, project management, data management and reporting skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive a culture of end-to-end ownership of Quality Control process while maintaining effective control over key deliverables. Take responsibility for implementing and coordinating activities under quality control program. Help to reduce errors and prevent future errors through continuous process improvement. Validate the team's findings and methodology thoroughly.
  • Quality Control associated with new/increase/renewal applications and monitoring activities at underwriter / portfolio level.
  • Quality Control tool (ACES) management and maintenance; as well as preparing and maintaining QC procedures.
  • Report creation, distribution and oversight of assigned risk monitoring tools / reports on a periodic basis.
  • Ensure that escalations are addressed and responded timely & effectively.
  • Identify key trends and propose effective quality control measures for better risk management. Effectively report quality control findings to senior management.
  • Work with the appropriate areas to develop recommended solutions to problems uncovered in quality control reviews.
  • Ensure strong control of internal processes to avoid any adverse Audit findings. Ensure quality control procedures and scorecards are relevant and up to date.
  • Participate and drive participation from the team on business-critical projects and process improvement initiatives.Support team by providing development opportunities targeted to their skills and career goals.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • Requires 10+ years' experience in commercial credit underwriting and financial analysis or equivalent related experience.
  • Experience in risk governance and process control.
  • Ability to formulate and articulate objective views based on professional credit assessment.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit philosophy and policies, loan documentation, bankruptcy, and regulatory and legal issues.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, graduate degree in business preferred. Completion of advanced courses in finance, accounting, and credit either through a bank sponsored training program or college course work.
  • Work effectively in an agile environment, while taking leadership responsibility.
