About SubCom
SubCom is a deep-tech, seed-funded endpoint security startup that builds cyber-security solutions for endpoints and data. Our platform, Shepherd , offers a comprehensive solution for device management and security automation for Enterprise and IoT devices.
We work close to OS Kernel and use system engineering languages (Rust/C++). We also have significant work in API and Web (Rust, PHP). We heavily use the Rust language and don’t appreciate garbage-collected languages!
Responsibilities
Project Management (must)
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects. Implement and test methodologies to enhance project efficiency.
- Ability to listen to others saying ‘ no’ and ‘ no but’ during the planning phase.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages innovation and creativity. Set clear goals and objectives for the engineering team and track progress.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement.
Recruitment and Team Development (expected)
- Participate in the recruitment process to attract top engineering talent.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Guide and mentor the team in their professional & emotional growth.
Technical Guidance (expected)
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the engineering team.
- Collaborate (oversee without dictating) with engineers on technical design, architecture, and coding best practices. Be a referee if team can’t reach a conclusion.
Quality Assurance (expected)
- Explore and test quality assurance processes that would help us deliver robust and scalable software systems.
Requirements
Qualifications
- We expect you to understand and appreciate the nature of the complexity involved in system application and API development. And how to best deal with such complexity. Therefore, we require you to have a very strong technical background. We tend to appreciate hands-on work over degrees.
- Appreciation for OS and Kernel engineering. We expect you to have done a fair amount of development yourself, but we don’t expect you to write code in this role.
- A bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is appreciated; however, it is not a must.
- Proven experience in a leadership role, managing engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- CTC for this role is 20 LPA to 30 LPA.
- ESOPs are applicable.
