Claranet Cyber Security is a world class business unit within Claranet, giving customers access to market-leading information security services spanning cybersecurity training, consulting, and managed security services. Formed through the combined forces of NotSoSecure, the UK Security Business Unit (previously known as Sec-1), and units in USA, France and Portugal, and now including recently added units in Germany, Netherlands and Spain. The growth of cybersecurity is one of the key group-wide priorities.

NotSoSecure has a strong heritage of security training and penetration testing for leading worldwide brands, built on the quality of its technical team and excellent customer service. R&D remains core to maintaining and growing our capability, recently allowing us to claim considerable expertise in application security (including threat modelling assignments), advanced consultancy services (including both red and purple teaming) and continued enhancements of our leading training offerings. As a key part of the Claranet Cyber Security expansion plans, the NSS team provide services to Claranet customers all over the globe and we are planning on considerable expansion of both capability and capacity in the coming years.

Position Summary The Financial Controller – Cybersecurity reports to the Group finance function and works closely with the Group Security Services Director, operational teams, and sales teams. They are responsible for financial and management accounting, financial reporting, financial planning, and business partnering. The Financial Controller is also responsible for ensuring that an appropriate financial control and procedures framework is implemented and maintained. This role is supported by the Group finance teams and works with others within operations and finance who help with invoicing and other admin tasks.

Essential duties & responsibilities The key priorities for the role are: Financial Control Maintain the accuracy of the accounting records, which includes: Maintenance of the general ledger, including month end close of the general ledgers. Perform and review reconciliations, ensuring all reconciling items are investigated and resolved. Preparation and presentation of financial information, including the monthly management accounts, the month end close files, KPIs and any ad-hoc business analysis as required. Responsible for the tactical management of bank accounts and cash balances, including the completion of detailed short-term cash forecasts and tracking against such forecasts. Responsible for overseeing the preparation of the US payroll and pension contributions, ensuring all variable information is submitted in a timely manner. Responsible for the monthly calculation of commissions payable to the sales team. Responsible for the review and payment of US employee expense claims. Responsible for the review and payment of UK and US supplier invoices. Responsible for the review and payment of UK and US applicable taxes, including for accurate recording and reporting of VAT liability in UK and Sales Tax in US. Responsible for: the timely and accurate invoicing of customers (with support from the NSS operations team); and for credit control processes, including debtor chasing; recharges between NSS entities and with other Claranet entities, liaising with Claranet colleagues to ensure that intercompany accounts reconcile and net to zero across the Group. Management of the UK and US year end processes, working with the Claranet UK team, Group and the external audit and tax team to ensure that Group and statutory deadlines are achieved. Responsibility for ensuring that all financial matters are in accordance with the legislation, the requirements of statutory bodies and ethical accounting practices. Ensure that all UK and US state and Federal statutory returns are completed accurately and on time. Ensure that financial controls and procedures are robust, appropriate, effective and fully documented, identifying key controls. Ensure that financial systems are robust, compliant and able to support current activities and future growth plans. Responsible for the maintenance of financial policies and procedures, including performing continual review and implementing improvements as required. Involvement with key business initiatives, ensuring that there is financial rigour around the decision-making process and that our systems, people and processes are adequately prepared.

Commercial Finance Budget and Forecast Responsible for the production of the NSS budget and annual reforecast. This will include setting and implementing the plan and timetable for completion in order to meet any internal or external reporting deadlines.

Business Partnering

Partnering the NSS Management Team by providing financial support, analysis and advice to increase the efficiency, effectiveness and profitability of the NSS business. Ensure reporting is relevant, targeted and concise so that Management can receive a timely, focused and accurate view of business performance. Ensure an effective methodology is establish regarding time recording, utilization and efficiency reporting. Ensure that revenue is maximized, and that revenue recognition is in line with Group policies. Identify potential cost savings and operational efficiencies to enable the NSS Management Team to improve profitability. Ad-hoc support to the US sales teams as required, for example with new client on-boarding processes.

Performance Reporting

Ensure monthly KPIs and management accounts are accurate and consistent and reported to Group to meet tight deadlines. Liaise with the sales team in a weekly meeting to review current pipeline and gather updates for preparation of a weekly revenue and bookings forecast for NSS.

Systems and Data

Responsible for identifying and implementing data quality improvements within Business systems. Integral to the design, scope and implementation of any Professional Services Automation (PSA) tool for NSS. Act as business owner for the SalesForce CRM for NSS and USA. Working with the NSS operations team, Claranet USA sales team and Group Information Systems teams to ensure the system delivers enhanced visibility of pipeline and efficiency in the sales process while complying with Group best practice and reporting framework. Integral to the move from legacy NSS financial systems to the Claranet standard financial system. Working with the Group Information Systems team to ensure this is effectively implemented.

Position specifications (Educational and job experience requirements) Either CA, CIMA, ACCA or ACA or CPA-qualified Advanced Excel skills Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the business. High level of attention to detail and accuracy Ability to present information in a concise and professional manner. Experience working with US and UK entities.

In addition, the following are highly desirable: Previous experience in a technology or services business would be an advantage. Experience with Xero, SalesForce and Microsoft F&O would be an advantage. Experience with international tax and trading would also be an advantage.
