Job description
About the Organization:
Swaniti Initiative aims to strengthen public service delivery by working with state and local governments across South Asia, United States and East Asia with a strong focus on India. Our interventions have included strengthening scheme implementation of sustainable programs by identifying current gaps and limitations, providing research support to Hon’ble Members of Parliament about best practices in moving forward on issues of social inclusion and growth, and developing data-technology tools that can back decision-making processes. Swaniti works on a subnational and local level to ensure last mile delivery of programs and works with a network of leaders to enable the same.
About the Position:
Today, our civilisation stands at a critical juncture as we are experiencing catastrophes like Climate Change and Global Warming, which might have adverse effects in the near future. In recent times, research indicates natural causes alone cannot explain the rapid increase in climate change. The anthropogenic factor like burning fossil fuel, deforestation, and large-scale grazing of livestock has resulted in this rapid change, as the major contribution to total radiative forcing is due to the increase in greenhouse gases (GHG), namely carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane. Research indicates the implications of climate change is not only restricted to environmental and global level but started showing consequences locally as well.
The deserving applicant will be an integral part of Swaniti’s flagship programmes under Climate and Sustainability, founded on the belief that sustainable energy solutions need economic growth at the core. Our theory of change centres on empowering states and districts to take charge of their sustainable future through bottom-up planning, community engagement, efficient utilization of public funds, and strengthening governance mechanisms.
By enabling a decentralised and participatory approach to sustainable development, the programmes aim to stimulate economic growth, reduce social inequalities, and foster environmental conservation by emphasising the principles of Just Transition, Net zero, economic diversification, DRE-based solutions and citizen science.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure effective programme management by delivering appropriate technical, operational, financial and administrative outputs, while tracking the programme progress through monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
- Lead assigned projects related to renewable energy, climate and sustainability, rural livelihood and governance, including technical execution of projects and management of project execution.
- Maintain collaborative working relationships among key project partners and stakeholders (including donors, government departments and ministries, industry associations, civil society etc.), through effective communication, consultation and reporting.
- Key Deliverables include preparation and monitoring of implementation of work plans, technical design of interventions, sub-contract management and project reporting (both narrative and financial, with support from the finance team).
- Prepare technical and finance proposals and enhance the portfolio of projects in the renewable energy and climate change space.
- Effective team management skills along with leadership qualities. Supervise multidimensional team, to ensure quality and timely deliverables.
- Design and conduct technical workshops, roundtables and convenings. Undertake necessary research and perform requisite technical analysis, as required.
- Proficient in developing quality reports & generating knowledge products in the form of impact presentations or policy/programme briefs.
