The Opportunity:
- Wholesale Credit & Lending (WCL) is an important contributor to the Group: it supports 80% of the revenues generated by Wholesale banking and forms a key part of the Group-wide transformation.
- WCL Transformation & Delivery is responsible for delivering high priority programmes to simplify, digitise at scale and automate the credit and lending journey, as well as supporting the creation of a new, globally consistent credit and lending organisation serving both GB and CMB business lines which collectively build towards our vision of becoming a leader in digitally enabled domestic and cross border lending across network, by improving customer experience generating competitive advantage through use of data and participation in emerging borrowing models.
- We are currently seeking experienced individuals to join this team in the role of Associate Director, Business Architecture – WCL. The roles will each focus on one of the following initiatives:
End-to-end credit and lending journeys and common capabilities
- The supported initiatives include the design of the strategic, future state credit and lending journeys for CMB and GB (including corporate lending, specialized lending, Banks/FIG), which incorporate new technologies, integrated data flows, automated/assisted decisioning, new appetite management frameworks, and emerging concepts such as ESG. In addition, the role will contribute to the design of new core capabilities such as credit hierarchies, credit control frameworks, entitlements, financial spreading, and pricing.
AI and Large Language Models
- The initiative centers around the use of Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models (GPT) in the Bank’s Credit and Lending processes. The role will be responsible for designing and implementing AI capabilities across all lending journeys, including credit decisioning, risk assessment, and loan origination processes. This position will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our lending business by leveraging the latest AI technologies to enhance customer experiences and drive operational efficiency.
The desired candidate will:
- Design and develop AI-driven solutions for credit and lending
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to define requirements and deliver AI-enabled solutions
- Stay informed on the latest AI and machine learning technologies and trends, and identify opportunities and use cases for their application within our lending business
- Develop and maintain documentation for AI solutions, including architecture diagrams, data flows, and functional specifications
- Monitor the performance of AI-driven credit and lending solutions and make recommendations for continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to AI and data usage in the lending industry
Monitoring
- The monitoring initiatives encompass the design and delivery of a new covenant management system, a new Perpetual Monitoring model for credit and lending, leverage and specialized lending monitoring enhancements, deteriorating and problem exposure management capabilities, and bespoke stress testing across corporate and specialized lending.
- The Business Architect role will help define globally aligned future state designs for Wholesale (CMB and GB). Defines the blueprint that helps to execute the vision by aligning strategic objectives to business capabilities, data and processes to deliver value to end users.
What you’ll do:
The Business Architect will primarily be responsible for:
- Providing architectural and subject matter expertise to all feature teams within the portfolio
- Interpreting and contextualizing business strategy
- Setting an overarching vision for lending and lending operations
- Leading the development of specific artefacts such as business capability maps and value streams to help bridge the gap between strategy and execution
- Leading the synthesis of desired business outcomes and translating into business capabilities to ensure these outcomes can be delivered in the most optimal way
- Leveraging capability from the appropriate lending team
- Ensuring end to end integrity of solution designs and alignment with standard architecture patterns such as Platform, Security, data etc.
- Leveraging agile methodologies and collaborate between technical and business teams to design iterative improvements to the platform and achieve long-term outcomes
- Architecture decisions and risks within the portfolio
- Managing the repository of business architecture models, roadmaps, standards and outcome.
- Evaluating new technologies and making recommendation for new capabilities

Leadership & Teamwork
- Support the team by quickly familiarising new team members with the team’s purpose and expectations
