Job description
Job Title: Master Diagnostic Technician
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments on various makes and models of vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and technical issues.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools, equipment, and software to troubleshoot complex automotive problems effectively.
- Interpret diagnostic results and provide detailed explanations to customers and service advisors, offering recommendations for repair or maintenance.
- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks according to manufacturer specifications and dealership standards, ensuring the highest level of quality and safety.
- Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies, diagnostic techniques, and repair procedures through continuous training and professional development.
- Collaborate with service advisors to prioritize and schedule repairs based on customer needs and dealership priorities.
- Maintain accurate records of diagnostic findings, repairs performed, and parts used, adhering to dealership documentation procedures.
- Assist junior technicians in diagnosing and resolving challenging technical issues, providing guidance and mentorship as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working in the service department, including proper handling of tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
- Uphold dealership policies and procedures regarding customer service, quality control, and ethical conduct at all times.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education or technical training in automotive technology preferred.
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification as a Master Technician or equivalent highly desirable.
- Proven experience as a diagnostic technician in an automotive dealership or repair facility, with a strong track record of successfully diagnosing and repairing complex vehicle issues.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software, including scanners, oscilloscopes, and computerized diagnostic systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed to meet customer demand and dealership goals.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
