Analyst to Director, with management providing supervision to junior levels.

Project controllers provide engagement management expertise for the entire project management team(s) by assisting with initiating and controlling organization and logistical aspects of projects. Their greatest value, however, is in the understanding and application of Engagement business and financial processes both to individual projects and to client accounts.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing the financial performance of the Consulting Business by overseeing working capital management and projects related commercials. The primary focus will be on checking Project Discount percentage, expediate the Project code creation process, tracking debtors, managing corridor payments, ensuring timely billing of work in progress (WIP), tracking WIP expenses, and facilitating premium write-ups. The role requires a strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• Participate the team of project controllers & responsible for local and statutory project compliance i.e., project costs estimation, pricing, Services tax, individual income and project taxes.
• Responsible for managing Project Controller resources that are providing project financial services to various consulting offshore, onsite and global projects or consulting pursuit or deals.
• Lead or participate the team of project controllers & responsible for developed the practice by embracing, championing, and driving significant service area/competency or function initiatives (e.g., knowledge, recruiting, retention, learning, etc.).
• Work with Multiple project Manager / Group delivery Manager to ensure compliance with billing and expense policy, leverage model, Compliances, tracking and performing various financial, contract management functions, including defining financial management processes and reporting trend and variance analysis and establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and engagement metrics.
• Serve as an integral part of the engagement leadership team.

Responsibilities:

• The roles will be responsible for managing, supporting and coordinating the office with Project code, review and approval process related to accounts and/or geographies that are part of the Deloitte India Consulting. The Role will become an integral part of the COO team working closely with Partners, Client Directors, Finance, and many other internal and external stakeholders involved in a potential business transaction.
• Ensure engagement-level local statutory compliance.

1. WIP Expenses Management

• Track WIP expenses and write-off where a premium is available
• Highlight ageing expenses and coordinate with portfolio teams to understand reasons and escalate if needed

1. Debtor Management:

• Implement and maintain effective systems for tracking overall debtors, including regular monitoring of aged debtors.
• Develop strategies to expedite the collection process and minimize outstanding receivables.
• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and up-to-date debtor records.

1. Corridor Payment Oversight:

• Manage corridor payments to optimize cash flow and ensure timely disbursements.
• Work closely with stakeholders to streamline the corridor payment process and identify areas for improvement

1. WIP Billing:

• Oversee the billing process for work in progress (WIP) to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
• Collaborate with project managers and other relevant departments to facilitate the smooth billing of completed work

1. Premium Write-up Management:

• Monitor and facilitate the write-up of premiums to enhance revenue recognition
• Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for premium write-ups and implement best practices

1. Working Capital Days Reduction:

• Develop and implement strategies to reduce overall working capital days
• Participate in debtor + WIP collection sprints where the most significantly aged debtors and WIP are showcased in a top-down review meeting
• Analyze working capital metrics and identify areas for improvement, working collaboratively with teams to implement changes.

1. Cross-Portfolio Collaboration:

• Work closely with Finance, Central Operations Group, and OP teams to ensure seamless coordination of working capital operations.
• Provide regular updates and reports to leadership on the status of working capital metrics and initiatives.

1. Leadership Presentations:

• Create working capital summaries for Executive Committee or Operating Committee meetings
• Highlight relevant data-driven insights and provide preliminary suggestions to overcome these pitfalls

• Need to be very structured and organized in his/hers approach with ability to plan work and prioritize effectively.
• Supervise project Controller team and manage the service delivery
• Provide partner support in opportunity development by reviewing complex scenarios.
• Provide high- level support for all financial and contractual discussion with client/ project leaders.
• Execute billing arrangement by ensuring client / Member firm agreement to bill and establishing and implementing appropriate past due invoices follow up.
• Develop and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and engagement metrics, lead monthly financial reviews with partners and advice management in decision making.
• Secure agreement on budgets for KPI's for financial reporting.
• Monitor engagement financial status and costs, perform financial forecasting and analysis, and produce financial reports.
• Ensure the quality and integrity of engagement financial records.
• Identify and implement appropriate procedures to improve responsibility accounting and reporting.
• Supervise and prepare engagement and/or client financial management reporting (pricing analysis, budget preparation, time and expense tracking, budget reconciliation and variance analysis, client billing and receivable collection, financial performance forecasting)
• Support project Controllers by leading cross engagements tasks forces, as necessary.
• Perform quality and service reviews in the team, to continuously improve the quality of service delivery.
• Conduct training sessions for senior management on pricing model and engagement economics.
• Support the project Controllers in scheduling, evaluation of their performance for project controller delivery team.
• Recruit Project Controller team members, and train them.
• Prepare and participate in Project Controller meetings and training sessions.
• Work closely with client and engagement partners, Directors and other Finance Operations executives ( COGs Team)
• Optimize billing process, provides key inputs to leadership & own the billing process for consulting.

Qualifications:

• Educational Qualification & Experience: Finance related Undergraduate degree, CA/CWA/ Post Graduate in Finance from India or equivalent certification. At least 7 to 8 + years working experience in accounting and Finance, preferably in an IT company that sold-to/supported global & local customers of which at least 2+ years of managerial Prior Bid, Deal, or Pricing Management experience. Business experience in Global markets Experience working with and supporting Sales Organizations. Experience managing global deals and cross cultural teams. Strong Time Management and Planning skills. Need to be very structured and organized in his/hers approach with ability to plan work and prioritize effectively. Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills along with excellent interpersonal skills. Budgeting, analytical, modeling and forecasting experience including attention to details and ability to work effectively under time pressure. Results driven carrier oriented individual. Extensive knowledge and experience in financial and accounting field. Deep understanding in internal policies, processes and procedures. Proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point and Data base management programs. Prior project work experience is a plus.
