A major bottleneck in facilitating community development is clear and engaging visual communication. Images often speak louder than words and it helps break down complex concepts into simple ideas that are easy to understand. This greatly improves accessibility and participation in different communities.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking to hire a layout designer who will create and maintain layouts for social media, email and the website. Your primary responsibilities will include:

1. Working with the communications and outreach team to create eye catching layouts on a wide range of topics directly related to technology. 
2. Working with the editorial team to create banner artwork and thumbnail graphics for different projects on the website.
3. Designing layouts for email marketing campaigns and newsletters in collaboration with the outreach team.
4. Creating infographics and other creatives to be used in the mailers and newsletters.

Background requirements

Apply for this job if you meet any of the following criteria:

1. Have a good sense of visual balance and a natural eye of composition.
2. Have experience with working in a social media outreach/content team.
3. Have created email templates for marketing campaigns.

Individuals with 1-2 years’ experience can apply for this role.

Other desired skill sets 

1. Ability to work with diverse teams, both in remote and in-person scenarios.
2. Demonstrable ability to prioritize and organize work.
3. Have experience with using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
