Job description

Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive placement strategy aligned with the university's vision and academic programs. Identify key industry sectors and build strong relationships with employers to create diverse placement opportunities. Industry Outreach: Establish and maintain strong ties with corporate partners, industry associations, and recruiters to understand their hiring needs. Organize industry interactions, networking events, and career fairs to facilitate student-employer engagements. Student Engagement: Provide career counseling, guidance, and mentorship to students to help them make informed career decisions. Conduct workshops and training sessions on resume building, interview skills, and other relevant career development topics. Collaboration with Academic Departments: Work closely with academic departments to understand the skill requirements of various industries and tailor academic programs accordingly. Facilitate industry-specific workshops and guest lectures to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Data Management: Maintain accurate records of student placement data, including tracking placement rates, types of jobs secured, and employer feedback. Analyze placement trends to make data-driven decisions and improvements in the placement process. Alumni Relations: Engage with alumni to create a strong alumni network that can contribute to the placement process through referrals, mentorship, and industry insights. Leverage alumni connections to create internship opportunities and job placements for current students. Marketing and Branding: Promote the university's placement successes through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and events. Enhance the university's reputation among employers as a preferred source of talented graduates. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with placement-related regulations and guidelines set by regulatory bodies. Maintain accurate documentation related to placements for accreditation purposes.

Qualifications and Skills: · Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., higher education, counselling, business, or related discipline). A Ph.D. or other advanced degree is a plus. · Several years of progressive leadership experience in career services, student affairs, or a related area within higher education. · Strong knowledge of labour market trends, recruiting practices, and career development strategies. · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, employers, faculty, and alumni. · Strong leadership, team-building, and managerial skills. · Experience with data analysis and reporting, as well as familiarity with career services software and technology. · Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in career services and placement initiatives.
