Position Purpose and Objectives
The Manager, HR Systems is a key driver in leading our global HR Systems team to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of our HR Information System (HRIS), Workday. The Manager, HR Systems is a hands-on role serving as a subject matter expert in HRIS functionality, with a primary focus on overseeing HRIS operations, ensuring data integrity, driving system enhancements, and providing leadership and supervision to a team of HR Systems Specialists (4) and Analysts (1) located across various countries and timezones. The ideal candidate must be highly committed to quality, customer service, and collaborative teamwork.
This role is based in India reporting directly to the Director, Total Rewards and HRIS based in Vancouver, Canada. The candidate must be flexible with their work hours in the UK and North America shifts (e.g. 2pm to 11pm IST).
Essential Job Functions
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of HR Systems Specialists and Analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture
Develop and support team members, establishing objectives, and overseeing work efforts to accomplish business goals
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance HRIS operations and efficiency
Ensure the department is meeting ongoing customer needs by developing and maintaining reports and metrics
Oversee and manage the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Workday modules, including core HCM, security, business processes, time tracking, and absence management, ensuring alignment with global standards and practices
Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements, design, build, test, and deploy Workday functionality
Partner with HR teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities and propose recommendations
Ensure the development and maintenance of comprehensive process and system documentation
Oversee regular data audits to ensure adherence to global standards
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Minimum 6 years of hands-on Workday HCM experience is required
Previous experience directly managing a global team and fostering a collaborative work environment (preferably with a globally distributed, remote team)
Demonstrated experience successfully managing large, global projects. Must possess strong organizational and project management skills and business acumen
Strong stakeholder management experience is required. Ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders
Workday certification in HCM, Time Tracking, and/or Absence Management is highly desirable
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic leadership skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Google Suite preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with all levels within the organization
In-depth understanding of HR operations and processes
Ability to work independently, think critically, and take initiative
