Modernizing Medicine is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Technical Trainer who will be responsible for playing a pivotal role in facilitating employees acquire technical skills and knowledge. Primary responsibility includes evaluating and understanding organization's technical objectives and needs in collaboration with leaders and cross functional teams, to be able to design, develop, and deliver training programs that effectively educate employees on various technical areas. Work closely with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful transfer of complex technical concepts. This role requires an effective deep understanding of complex technical concepts, products, processes along with the ability of effective and clear communication to deliver the training in an interesting manner using modern training methodologies. Requires excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Your Role

  • Training Program Development
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand technical content and training requirements.
    • Design and develop training materials, including presentations, documentation, hands-on labs, exercises, and assessments
    • Adapt training content to suit different audiences, such as beginners, intermediate learners, and advanced users.
    • Utilize instructional design methodologies to create engaging and effective training experiences.
    • Focus on onboarding new employees and ramping them up quickly.
  • Training Delivery
    • Conduct in-person, virtual, and/or hybrid training sessions for individuals or groups.
    • Deliver technical content in a clear, concise, and engaging manner, catering to diverse learning styles.
    • Utilize appropriate training methodologies, such as lectures, hands-on labs, demonstrations, webinars, workshops and discussions.
    • Address participant questions, concerns, and challenges during training sessions.
  • Evaluation and Feedback
    • Assess participant learning progress through evaluations, quizzes, and practical exercises.
    • Collect feedback from participants and stakeholders to continually improve training content and delivery methods.
    • Analyze and measure training effectiveness and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Expertise in programming Languages such as Java/J2EE development experience.
    • Well-versed in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and associated web development frameworks.
    • Knowledge of Human Interface Guidelines, Apple products ecosystem, Swift, and iOS/iPad OS/etc
    • Database Skills: Familiarity with databases and SQL for training on data storage and retrieval in software applications.
    • Strong understanding of Java/J2EE Object Oriented design and development skills.
    • Solid understanding of Web Standards (XML, Web Services (WS*, REST)).
    • Strong understanding of Microservices.
    • Exposure to AWS and/or Azure.
    • Experience in SQL and relational databases experience.
    • Understanding software development methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, DevOps and the ability to train others in these practices.
    • Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting code, and the ability to teach effective debugging techniques to others.
    • Familiarity with coding standards, best practices, and design patterns to help trainees write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
    • Knowledge of version control systems like Git and the ability to educate on their use in collaborative coding projects.
    • An understanding of secure coding practices and how to teach trainees to write code that is less susceptible to vulnerabilities.
    • Knowledge of software testing techniques, automated testing tools, and quality assurance practices, and the ability to teach these to others.
    • Understanding of API design, integration, and the ability to train on how to work with APIs.
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and practices in software development and the ability to teach the implementation of CI/CD.
    • Stay updated with the latest advancements in relevant technologies and industry trends.
    • Maintain a deep understanding of the technical subject matter to confidently address complex queries.
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as technical and product development, operational, customer support and other stakeholders, to align training content towards business goals.
    • Collaborate with instructional designers and multimedia specialists to enhance training materials with interactive elements, visuals, and multimedia.
  • Documentation
    • Create and update training documentation, including user guides, reference manuals, and training plans.
    • Ensure all training materials are engaging, accurate, up-to-date for evolving needs, and accessible.
  • Continuous Learning
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to improve training techniques, stay current with industry trends, and enhance technical expertise.
Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • 10 plus Years of proven experience as a technical trainer or in a similar role, showcasing the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in using training tools and platforms for virtual and in-person training.
  • Familiarity with instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of participants.
  • Certification such as CTT+ (Certified Technical Trainer) is preferred.
  • Industry certifications or advanced degrees related to the subject matter are a plus.
  • Documentation and Code Comments: The importance of good documentation and code comments in maintaining codebases and the ability to instill these practices in trainees.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adapt training materials to different skill levels and learning styles within the target audience.
  • Effective Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Keeping Up with Industry Trends: Staying updated on programming language updates, new tools, and industry trends to ensure the training remains relevant.
