Job description

You will be responsible for conducting inspections, assessments, and surveys of vessels, marine equipment, and maritime facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct pre-purchase, condition, and damage surveys of vessels including cargo ships, passenger vessels, offshore platforms, and pleasure craft. Inspect hulls, machinery, navigation equipment, safety systems, and other onboard components for compliance with regulations and industry standards. Identify deficiencies, defects, and areas requiring repair or maintenance. Ensure vessels comply with international maritime regulations, classification society rules, flag state requirements, and industry guidelines. Review vessel documentation, certificates, and records to verify compliance with statutory requirements. Issue inspection reports and certificates based on findings and recommendations. Conduct cargo loading and discharge surveys to verify quantity, condition, and compliance with cargo handling procedures. Inspect cargo holds, stowage arrangements, securing arrangements, and cargo handling equipment. Assess cargo damage, contamination, and loss claims as required. Conduct marine insurance surveys to assess risk, evaluate insurability, and determine premiums for vessels and maritime operations. Investigate marine incidents, accidents, and claims to assess damage, determine liability, and provide expert opinions. Provide expert advice and guidance to ship owners, operators, insurers, and regulatory authorities on matters related to vessel condition, safety, and compliance. Assist clients in developing and implementing maintenance plans, risk management strategies, and remedial actions.

Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience in marine surveying, ship inspection, or maritime operations. Knowledge of international maritime regulations, classification society rules, and industry standards. Certification or accreditation as a marine surveyor (e.g., through professional organizations such as the International Institute of Marine Surveying). Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and report writing skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
