About the project

PATH's ongoing work is focused on improving young people's access to mental healthcare services, and rational use of digital mental health interventions. PATH's program ASPIRE aims to improve mental health outcomes among young people aged 15-24 years in Chikkaballapura district, Karnataka state by developing and deploying interventions to improve young people's access to mental health resources, and care for common mental disorders through primary healthcare services in the district.

About the position

PATH is looking forward to engaging a mental health professional with public health experience as a Project Manager on Third Party Payroll – Randstad to lead the development of the project interventions and its implementation in Karnataka. Knowledge and experience in youth mental health – psychology or psychiatry, proficiency in Kannada and experience of working in Karnataka in mental health projects is required. Experience of working in mental health projects in primary care settings and with the public health system is highly preferable.

The required skills include the development of mental health interventions to be integrated within primary care settings, program planning, implementation & management in liaison with the state and district health administration, analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Support the national team in the development and contextual adaptations of interventions for implementation in Chikkaballapura district, Karnataka.
• Lead the planning and implementation of the program, supervise and support the program team in the district.
• Facilitate, coordinate, and conduct training and capacity building activities for relevant stakeholders (mainly primary health care functionaries and community members).
• Undertake extensive field travel within district to provide on-site support and supervision for implementing mental health interventions in primary care settings.
• Mapping of key actors and services focusing on youth mental health within district and state.
• Liaise with block, district, and state health officials for program implementation.
• Document program activities, training logs, track progress and support reporting of the program implementation.
• Other tasks assigned by the program lead.

Required experience and qualifications:

• Advanced degree in clinical psychology or psychiatry with 3-5 years' experience and demonstrated skills in development and implementation of mental health programs in primary care settings.
• Experience of working with state and district level government health departments and other sectors related to youth mental health.
• Technical knowledge and field experience of primary health care and public health programs in Karnataka
• Familiarity with Indian public health system, flagship initiatives and relevant government policies/ strategies relevant to mental health, Ayushman Bharat Health & Wellness Centers, and relevant National Health Programs.

Skills / Abilities:

• Proven ability to multi-task and collaborate work effectively with diverse stakeholders including government officials, local institutions, and others at all levels.
• Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines, and an emphasis on quality.
• Excellent analytical, communication, presentation and report writing skills.
• Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
• Fluency in Kannada, English and Hindi.
