Yadgreen India is seeking a dedicated Team Member to join our Blue Carbon department in Chennai. As a part of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving sustainable solutions and contributing to our mission of creating a greener future.
Technical Expertise:
- Carbon Science and Accounting: Understand carbon sequestration and emission measurement methodologies, especially those relevant to VCS methodologies.
- Project Development and Management: Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, including stakeholder engagement and community development.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data on project activities, impacts, and carbon benefits.
- GIS and Remote Sensing: Knowledge of using GIS tools for mapping project areas, monitoring changes, and analyzing spatial data.
- Software Familiarity: Proficient in relevant software tools for data analysis, reporting, carbon accounting, and project management.
- Project Management: Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of blue carbon projects focused on mangrove conservation and restoration.
- Technical Expertise: Apply your knowledge of mangrove ecosystems, carbon sequestration processes, and carbon credit generation to project design and execution.
- Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data on mangrove health, carbon storage, and project effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with communities, NGOs, and government agencies involved in blue carbon initiatives.
- Carbon Credit Development: Assist with the development and validation of carbon credits generated from mangrove projects.
- Grant Management: Secure funding for blue carbon projects through grant writing and proposal development.
- Reporting and Communication: Prepare clear and concise reports and presentations on project progress and results.
- Training and Capacity Building: Share your expertise and train others on blue carbon project management, carbon credits, and mangrove conservation.
Regulatory and Legal Expertise:
- VCS Standard and Requirements: Thorough understanding of the VCS program rules, methodologies, and validation/verification procedures.
- Carbon Credit Markets: Familiarity with carbon credit regulations, trading mechanisms, and market dynamics.
- Legal and Contractual Framework: Knowledge of relevant environmental and land use laws, regulations, and agreements.
Additional Skills and Experience:
- Communication and Negotiation: Strong communication skills for interacting with stakeholders, communities, and regulatory bodies.
- Fundraising and Grant Writing: Ability to secure funding and resources for project development and implementation.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Experience working effectively in a team environment with diverse stakeholders.
- Cultural Sensitivity and Intercultural Communication: Ability to work effectively in different cultural contexts, particularly in developing countries.
Specific Roles Within VCS Projects:
- Project Developer: Requires comprehensive expertise in project development, carbon accounting, and VCS regulations.
- Monitoring and Verification Consultant: Needs strong data analysis and field data collection skills, along with a deep understanding of VCS monitoring requirements.
- Carbon Credit Sales and Marketing: Requires knowledge of carbon markets, trading mechanisms, and communication skills to market carbon credits effectively.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in environmental science, natural resource management, ecology, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in blue carbon project development, implementation, or research.
- Strong understanding of mangrove ecosystems, carbon sequestration processes, and carbon credit generation methodologies.
- Proven experience in data analysis, reporting, and project management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience working in developing countries and intercultural contexts a plus.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including GIS, data analysis platforms, and carbon accounting tools.
