Overview
The Data & Services Technology team is looking for an experienced engineering director to manage a growing set of full-time and contractor teams to maintain and scale a product in our B2B recommendations space. The director will be the senior-most technical leader focused on this product, determining roles and responsibilities for the technical teams.
Role
In this software development leadership position, you will:
• Drive the architectural design, including dependent services, service interactions, and policies
• Consult across teams and across program lines to identify synergies and reuse opportunities
• Hold people and teams accountable and effectively delegate responsibilities down to the team
• Recruit and hire diverse talent
• Manage cost allocation while delivering on business needs in the area of ownership
• Understands Mastercard system architecture to arrive at the cost of ownership to drive optimization and refactoring; Has skills to cost-effectively architect systems to meet the
scaling needs of different markets (e.g., on soil or localization)
All About You
• Expert in software development, including to promote and coach teams on full-stack development and facilitate end-to-end service ownership
• Understands software development productivity metrics and helps teams to remove blockers and continuously improve code velocity and quality
• Has experience in leading and coaching teams to perform software planning and estimation for large scale complex programs; has skills to drive trade-off discussions to set the right development capacity based on value drivers
• Experience managing contractors based on needs, costs, and projections
• Can communicate across timezones
• Able to interact with product and business stakeholders independently
