Job Description

Visa is seeking a Data Scientist to join our Sales and Client Services & Experience team. The Sales and Client Services & Experience Team in Visa supports business users in Sales, Client Services and Global Client Care in providing access to data and insights using Data Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML.

This position is ideal for a data scientist who is passionate about helping business take decisions based on data by providing meaningful and actionable insights.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement machine learning models, perform data analysis, and create predictive

models to support the Sales and Client Services teams.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand their data science needs and

provide solutions.

  • Conduct research to identify new methods and techniques to improve existing models.
  • Create visualizations to communicate complex data and insights in a clear and effective manner.
  • Ensure data quality throughout all stages of acquisition and processing, including data cleaning,

normalization, and transformation.

  • Continually monitor and evaluate the performance of the models.
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and

report results.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 3 or more relevant years of

experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, MD).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in data science, machine learning, AI, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Python, R, SQL, and other data science tools.
  • Experience with big data platforms like Hadoop, Spark, or similar technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
  • Experience with Generative AI techniques.
  • Familiarity with Large Language Models such as OpenAI's GPT-3, and open-source models like

Falcon or Llama2.

  • Proficient in Machine Learning Operations (MLOps), including deployment and maintenance of

machine learning models.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical

stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with the sales and client services industry is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure is good to have.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security principles.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or similar.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently as required.
  • Proficient in using Git and version control systems.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience in working with unstructured data.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into business terms. The candidate

should be able to explain the value and implications of data science work in a way that resonates

with business stakeholders, such as by tying results to business KPIs or strategic objectives.

  • Experience in collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. The candidate should

be comfortable facilitating discussions, presenting findings, and advocating for data-driven decision

making to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to understand and align with business goals. The candidate should be able to work closely

with stakeholders to understand their objectives and challenges, and to design data science

solutions that directly support business outcomes.

  • Strong listening and empathy skills. The candidate should be able to engage in active listening,

understand the perspectives and needs of stakeholders, and respond in a way that builds trust and

collaboration.

  • Experience in managing expectations and handling objections. The candidate should be able to

navigate conversations when results or recommendations may not align with stakeholders'

expectations or preconceived ideas, and to handle such situations in a way that maintains positive

relationships and moves the conversation forward.
