The Company:
EDS Group, part of the James Fisher Group of companies - is a leading authority in the design, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of high voltage windfarms. Mainly operating in the UK and Europe, EDS has been serving renewables for over a decade and impacting every stage of the wind farm lifecycle.

The Role:
As the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and Network Engineer you are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure that supports SCADA systems. These systems are crucial for the monitoring and control of the transmission network infrastructure within the JFR control room and High-Voltage substations.
SCADA Network Engineers typically work in office environments but may need to visit sites where SCADA systems are deployed, which will include working in remote locations.
This role will require availability outside of standard working hours to address critical system issues or perform maintenance during low-usage periods.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design and implement network infrastructures that support SCADA systems, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security.
• Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams and documentation.

Maintenance and Support:

• Monitor network performance, ensuring system availability and reliability.
• Troubleshoot network issues and provide technical support for SCADA-related network problems.
• Perform regular maintenance and upgrades to networks and SCADA systems.

Security:

• Implement and maintain security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Monitor network security, identify vulnerabilities, and apply necessary patches and security updates.
• Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for SCADA networks.

Collaboration and Coordination:

• Collaborate with IT and operational technology (OT) teams to integrate SCADA systems with other IT infrastructure.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and engineering teams to ensure that network infrastructure meets project requirements and timelines.

Innovation and Improvement:

• Stay updated with the latest technologies and trends in network engineering and SCADA systems.
• Recommend improvements to enhance system performance, security, and reliability.

Support the 24/7 control rooms to ensure transmission assets are monitored and STC requirements are met.
Support relevant Business Development activities as required including through budget calculations and technical presentations.

Skills & Qualifications:
Ideally you will have a degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
A Project Management qualification would also be ideal.

Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, VPN, MPLS).
Experience with network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls) and software.
Knowledge of SCADA systems and their applications in industrial environments.
Proficiency in security principles and technologies (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems).

Experience:
Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar role, preferably in an environment with SCADA systems.
Experience with network design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
