Job description
Overall Responsibility:
• Get the Design Input from Sales & Marketing for our Own Product, Customer's products, specifications and input from Production, QC & Supplier and convert the Design Input to Design Output i.e. 2D / 3D Drawings, Specification Data Sheet, Bill of Material, Reference Design / Company Engineering Standards, Production Process Control Parameter, Acceptance Criteria, Engineering Change Note, Revised design documents.
• Carry-out Design Review / build prototype to check the feasibility for manufacturing, Product Specification / Features, Product Aesthetics etc.
• Carry-out Design Verification / Validation before finalizing design.
• Preparing and Updating of Company Standards related to all Products
• Take Part in LEAN and 5S activities.
Responsibilities &Duties:
• Co-ordinate with Sales Team to get Design input from the Customer.
• Study the design input (Customer supplied drawings, specifications & special requirements) and check the feasibility to manufacture the product as per design input. Prepare comparison between the design input & design output. Get the approval from Sales / Customer for design output before commencing the production.
• Reduce Process Cycle Time and Non-value added activities.
• Practice 5S activities in design section.
• Collaborate with design engineers & carry out dimensional drawing (2D / 3D) / design of components based on our product design/customer supplied model drawings, sketches to achieve economy in manufacturing, including undertaking feasibility for Manufacturability & Assembly studies if required.
• As required, Conduct Product Performance Test & Evaluate the Test Result for finalizing drawing and specifications.
• Create and maintain documents & drawings for components / products, Specification Standards, Bill of Material (create Item code and BOM in ERP) in ERP timely manner, including consumables, DxF documents, part programs etc.
• Create Data Bank for Material / Component Specifications, National/International Standards, Technical Literature / Books.
• Carryout Design Review with related people before releasing New Design to manufacture and take necessary actions
• Release of Product Drawings for manufacturing to PPC, Purchase, QC and Production.
• Preparation of Product BOM in ERP
• Ensure Product and Process specification details are incorporated in the drawings.
• Prepare and update Company Standards for Raw Material, Components and Process Parameters
• Issue of Design Change Note for any change in drawing/specification & get implemented.
• Scrutinize the Deviation Note, technically and get approved from Sales / Customer as necessary.
• Preserve Customer supplied Drawings / documents for stipulated time by the customer.
• Ensure the completeness of drawings before issuing to the user.
• Keep record of Controlled Copies of Drawings / Specifications issued to Production, QC, Purchase, Suppliers, Sales and Customers.
• Ensure to use, as far as possible, Standardized & Common material & Items for new designs
• Analyze Customer's issue related to design / QC and take corrective / preventive actions
• Work closely with Purchase, QC, PPC, Production & Customers to resolve design issues manufacturing and production engineers to ensure products & parts are designed for manufacture.
• Carryout Value Engineering to reduce the Cost of Material, Manufacturing Operational Cost. Use of standardized parts in design.
• Reduce numbers of Non-conformities in design arise from production, QC and Customers
• Resolve Customer's complaints regarding product performance and other related issues.
• Meet with customers, listen to their product specifications and translate their requests into designs.
• Development / Assessment of Suppliers.
• Provide Training to design people to enhance skill, knowledge, competence, behavior etc.
• Ensure compliance to Legal and statutory requirements are met while designing the product.
• Maintain and follow ISO 9001 procedures & work instruction, keep & updates the related records, take corrective and preventive actions on the non-conformities observed and actions taken for continual improvements.
• Follow the Schedule for ISO 9001 Audits & corrective actions on the audit observations and non-conformity noted during the audit.
