Job Title: Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team. Our company is a leading technology organization committed to delivering innovative solutions to our clients. As a Microsoft SQL Server DBA, you will play a vital role in maintaining and optimizing our database systems to ensure efficient and reliable data management.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  1. Database Management: Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
  2. Performance Tuning: Monitor and tune database performance by analyzing query execution plans, optimizing indexes, and configuring server settings.
  3. Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to protect the integrity and availability of data, including regular data backups, restoration, and disaster recovery planning.
  4. Security Management: Implement and maintain database security protocols, including user access controls, data encryption, and data masking, to protect sensitive information.
  5. Database Monitoring: Monitor and troubleshoot database issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and proactively take corrective actions to ensure continuous system availability.
  6. Capacity Planning: Analyze database growth patterns and forecast future database capacity requirements, recommending appropriate hardware and software upgrades to support business needs.
  7. Database Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including database schemas, configurations, and operational procedures, to ensure accurate system knowledge transfer and compliance.
  8. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to support application development, deployment, and integration efforts.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in database management, recommending and implementing process enhancements and automation to improve operational efficiency.
  10. Troubleshooting and Support: Respond to and resolve database-related incidents and service requests, providing timely and effective support to internal stakeholders.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  2. Proven experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA, managing enterprise-level database systems.
  3. Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including database design, administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  4. Experience with database backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  5. Proficiency in SQL programming and scripting languages.
  6. Familiarity with database security concepts and best practices.
  7. Understanding of high availability (HA) and failover clustering technologies.
  8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
  9. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  10. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Microsoft SQL Server certification (e.g., MCSA, MCSE) or equivalent industry certifications.
  2. Experience with cloud-based database platforms, such as Microsoft Azure SQL Database.
  3. Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies.
  4. Knowledge of PowerShell or other automation tools for database administration tasks.
  5. Experience with performance monitoring and tuning tools, such as SQL Server Profiler or Extended Events.
