Job description

You will take responsibility for the efficient delivery of development programmes across the division and ensure that teams are aligned with Civica’s best practices and technical strategy. Working closely with the H&C Functional Director, Product you will ensure development backlogs are prioritised to meet agreed market demands, contractual commitments, defect fixing, technical debt remediation and security risk mitigation. You will lead a team of development and testing professionals and utilise Agile practices and processes to efficiently deliver high quality, secure products to our customers. You will drive continuous improvement programmes to improve productivity of the teams. This is a senior leadership role that requires strategic thinking, problem solving skills, stakeholder management experience and an ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Plans, budgets and coordinates the performance of the division’s development programme in line with the divisional product strategy. · Supports and inputs into the prioritisation of development backlogs in conjunction with the Functional Director, Product. · Drives estimation processes to inform commercial discussions around developments. · Promotes Agile development practices to drive productivity and efficiency in line with Civica’s best practice approach. · Drives automation of development processes to deliver high quality, high cadence release cycles. · Contributes to Civica’s technical strategy and ensure this is adhered to within the teams. · Manages teams spanning multiple geographies in a consistent way. · Ensures the accurate production of key metrics and performance indicators in line with Civica standards, and acts on this data to drive key decision making. · Ensures products are secure and meet performance requirements. · Leverage economies of scale ensuring agreed cloud technologies are used to maximise benefit and minimise cost to Civica as part of solution delivery. · Ensures a structured plan is in place to remove technical debt and security risks from Civica solutions. · Identify software that can be converged and where reusable assets can be extracted from new and existing software. · Develops a high performing development team, providing opportunities for career and skills growth. · Works closely with other development leads to share and support best practice to ensure consistency across Civica. · Supports Civica with evaluation, due diligence and integration of M&A businesses and products

Reporting to the Executive Director. You will have direct reports in development and testing teams.

Essential Competencies · Previous experience as a strategic development leader, including through periods of business transformation. · Established expertise in software delivery using geographically dispersed development teams. · Experience in managing complex teams and providing leadership in an environment of ambiguity. · Highly experienced in the use of Agile working practices to drive team efficiency. · Excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. · Highly analytical and data driven decision making, comfortable in utilising metrics and tools to inform decision making. · Demonstrable organisational skills. · Planning capabilities, both strategic and responsive. · Experience defining strategy and developing SaaS based products. · Excellent understanding of technology and Cloud (including value drivers) and successful value propositions that drive customer installed base migration from on premise to cloud

Preferred Skills · MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint etc. · Working knowledge of ISO9001, ISO27001, ISO27701 · Understanding of the impact of GDPR and other regulations on software products.
