Job description
As a Senior Resident in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), your primary responsibilities will include:
Patient Care:
- Providing direct patient care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
- Conducting initial assessments, monitoring patients' conditions, and implementing appropriate interventions.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
- Administering medications, performing procedures, and managing equipment as necessary.
- Responding to emergencies and providing rapid assessment and intervention.
Supervision and Teaching:
- Supervising and mentoring junior residents, medical students, and other healthcare staff in the ICU.
- Providing guidance on patient management, procedural skills, and critical care protocols.
- Participating in educational activities, including didactic sessions, case presentations, and simulation exercises.
Clinical Documentation and Communication:
- Ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records.
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and caregivers regarding the patient's condition, treatment plan, and prognosis.
- Collaborating with consulting services and coordinating transfer or discharge plans as needed.
Quality Improvement and Research:
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety, outcomes, and satisfaction in the ICU.
- Engaging in clinical research activities, including protocol development, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings.
Professional Development:
- Pursuing ongoing professional development through participation in conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education activities.
- Maintaining licensure and board certification in critical care medicine or relevant specialty.
