Manager Responsibilities As a Manager, you will join as part of a global tax team assisting the group from managing project assignments leading to the actual issuance of tax deliverables to our clients. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain internal controls ensuring the Company remains compliant with all regulations.
- Assist in the management of a portfolio of clients including the allocation of projects across the global tax team.
- Review and ensure quality of tax products – work papers, tax returns and all other tax deliverables
- Review federal and state tax returns prepared by 3rd party tax preparers
- Ensure effective Staff Development: Train, coach, supervise and appraise performance of staff
- Manage and oversee a team of supervisors, seniors and staff
- Participate in the growing of the tax team including screening & interviewing candidates
- Assist the management and delivering of large projects
- Multi‐task and juggle priorities in a highly dynamic, global team environment
- Act as technical and knowledge resource to the tax department
- Review, build and improve tax processes including handling tax tool enhancement projects or other related initiatives.
- Develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges
- Participate in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients ( Federal , state and international tax issues )
- Keep up to date with relevant industry regulatory changes affecting the business operations
- Develop internal and client relationship
- Participate in the over-all operational requirements of the global tax team such as holding periodic meetings with tax management team as required.
Education, Qualifications And Experience - Degree qualified in Accounting or Finance related area and/or studying for a professional accounting qualification
- At least ten (10) years of relevant experience in the alternative investment industry
- Strong software skills
- MS Excel – The successful candidate will be comfortable with formulas, should understand the basics of macros & pivot tables, and be able to navigate and understand workbooks
- In general, candidates should have an intuitive feel and be a quick study for various software applications
- Proficient in Go System Tax RS
- Extensive experience in US tax compliance (Federal and states) including review of Forms 1065/K1, 1042, 1099s, 8621, 5471, PFIC reporting etc. for hedge/private equity funds is a MUST.
- Knowledge of hedge funds/ private equity structures
- Knowledge of partnership accounting and allocations, including tax waterfalls
- Review all the tax lot testing; dividend income/expense, wash sales, straddles, constructive sales, short sale holding period etc. in order to get to final taxable number for the accurate income tax filing
- Excellent analytical, problem solving skills with high degree of attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks / projects
- Proactive and team player attitude
- Enrolled Agent/US CPA designation is a plus
