Job Summary:

The Storekeeper-Technical, is responsible for overseeing the efficient receipt, storage, and issuance of a wide range of goods. This role involves managing inventory levels, ensuring proper organization of stock, and coordinating with other departments to fulfil orders and maintain optimal stock levels. The Storekeeper will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate records of inventory transactions and assisting in the implementation of inventory management procedures.

Responsibilities:

Receiving and Inspection:

Receive incoming goods, verify quantities against purchase orders, and inspect for damages or discrepancies. Document and report any issues to the appropriate department.

Storage and Organization: Ensure proper storage of goods to prevent damage or spoilage. Maintain an organized warehouse or storage area, utilizing shelving systems and labeling for efficient retrieval.

Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and perform regular stock checks to prevent stock outs or overstock situations. Coordinate with purchasing or procurement teams to replenish stock as needed. Highlight any non-moving – slow-moving – near-expiry material in time to the concerned department periodically. Familiarity with industry-specific inventory management practices (e.g., FIFO, LIFO)

Order Fulfilment: Understand the lead time needed for each SKU and accordingly process requests and requisitions for goods in consultation with the concerned business.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, including receipts, withdrawals, and returns. Input data into inventory management systems or spreadsheets and reconcile physical inventory with records on month & month basis.

Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks on stored goods to ensure compliance with standards and regulations. Identify and report any quality issues or discrepancies.

Health and Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures when handling goods, including proper use of equipment and PPE. Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations in the storage and handling of materials.

Communication: Coordinate with other departments, such as sales, logistics, and finance, to ensure smooth operations and timely fulfilment of orders. Communicate effectively with suppliers and vendors regarding deliveries and returns.

Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on storage equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working condition. Report any maintenance issues or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement in inventory management and warehouse operations. Collaborate with colleagues and management to implement best practices and enhance efficiency.
