As a Senior Engineer you will focus on technical and project delivery of energy storage (mainly Battery Energy Storage Systems – BESS) assignments and take a leading position in developing the market for WSP's services in this field.

Your duties will include:

• Managing and performing high quality technical advisory works
• Project management and interface between engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil and control & instrumentation)
• Provide technical input from initial assessment through to technical and economic feasibility of the project and integration with other electrical or generating plants as necessary
• Review overall project conceptual design, detailed design, and design and suggest technical and design improvements for BESS projects
• Prepare and manage specifications, tenders, negotiations and selection of Balance of Plant.
• Due diligence of BESS projects and support Sponsor(s) and Lender(s) throughout the Financial Close process including technical liaison with legal and financial advisors

We have established client relationships with some of the largest and most well-known developers, investors and lenders in the industry and we support their projects across the globe.

Delivering high quality, proactive, prompt and up to date technical services to our clients is paramount. We offer services at all stages of the project lifecycle, with a particular focus on the following core services:

• Energy yield and resource assessments
• Site layouts and optimisation, concept design and feasibility studies
• Technical due diligence for Merger and Acquisition (M&A) transactions
• Lender's Technical Advisor (LTA) scopes of work
• Project development and Owner's Engineer (OE) scopes of work, including tendering and contracting support, construction monitoring and management, and technical advisory services
• Having good knowledge about different battery technologies with knowledge about the certification and safety requirements of batteries.
• Having good knowledge about Power Conversion Systems with knowledge about the certification and safety requirements of batteries.
• Good understanding of automation and control integration requirements of batteries and PCS.
• Knowledge on different performance related testing's and ideas of battery argumentation and disposal plans In-depth understanding of battery fundamentals. Detailed know how of standards, regulations, and market requirements.
• Knowledge of the global power market. Strong Technical and Management background, preferably in the power engineering or energy industry

WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE

• Bachelor's Degree (Engineering) or equivalent (electrical preferred; mechanical will also be considered) with five to ten years of experience.
• Experience of BESS technology. Mix of UK and overseas experience would be ideal
• An in-depth knowledge and field expertise regarding BESS technologies including emerging technologies and the international market
• Technical advisory experience towards investors, project developers and banks or experience with BESS plant design dealing with technical advisory support and deliverables

Mandatory Skills

PCS,BMS, EMS and SCADA designs, Energy Management, Cable Sizing, grounding system design.
