Job description
Plan, prepare and assist special research, automation and process control.
Administer, manage and report on the installation safety.
Provides engineering design, troubleshooting and maintenance of Distributed Control
System (DCS) and PLC.
Troubleshoots day-to-day process problems related to instruments/controls/controller
tuning and batch recipes execution.
Able to write logical programs for the DCS and PLC systems.
Supports Process Hazard Analysis and implements process changes through a
Management of Change process.
Maintains up-to-date documentation for all the Instruments, DCS and PLC.
Conducts training programs for operators on the DCS and PLC.
Initiates and manages DCS hardware, software and Process Control Network
upgrades.
Schedule and undertake periodic maintenance on all Instruments, components, and
installations.
Provide prompt response to inquiries whenever there is a breakdown, and resolve
the issue as quickly as possible.
Ensure that Instruments are in good working order so as to prevent disruption of
activities.
To involve actively in the construction, pre-commissioning and installation of all the
instruments.
Recommend replacement for old or faulty instruments to the management.
Assist in forecasting requirements, creating a budget and scheduling expenses for
the Instruments department.
Keep record of all stock and supplies, including companys electrical equipment.
- Working in collaboration with all the departments to formulate the best cost-effective
- manufacturing process.
- Perform energy audit and recommend alternative sources of energy.
- Ensure that all electrical gadgets and instruments are switched off after close of work
- daily.
- Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and provide preventive maintenance services.
- Learn new skills and attend training programs in other to increase knowledge of
- trends and best practices in the industry.
- Provide safe working environment for members of staff.
- Identify and document any service quality issues about instrumentation and make
- sure that relevant solutions are provided to resolve them.
- Take steps to prevent fire outbreaks by making appropriate recommendations to
- management.
- Provide 24 hours a day maintenance services or assign technical staff to do so.
- Support the company in increasing profitability by managing resources efficiently and
- making necessary recommendations.
- Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
- Prepare layouts for the project as per the power, process and material flow needs in
- coordination with the concerned.
- Monitor the good quality and correct repair, scheduled checks/test, overhaul, QA
- equipment/instruments and safety controls, re-calibration of all process in the factory
- as per the engineering practices and standards as well as manufactures'
- maintenance manuals
- Keep track of safety measures, controllers, general service instruments, calibration
- process and communication
- Make certain that corrective activities are implemented and followed up
- Make sure that all safety policies, precautionary measures, rules and regulations laid
- down by the management are implemented and followed.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation and Control/Electrical/Electronics/Chemical
- from an accredited university.
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience in DCS in the refinery, petrochemical or
- chemical industry.
- Strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to work independently, in a team and in a diverse environment.
CTC Salary: Not a Constraint for Right Profiles.
