Job description
Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated IP Security Applications Engineer to own and foster technical relationships with our regional customer base. TeraVM is used to test and validate customer network topologies, systems and security devices by emulating users and application traffic to validate performance under real-world scenarios. The successful candidate will be exposed to cutting edge technologies working alongside world leading network equipment brands and international service providers.
Duties & Responsibilities: Major Responsibilities
- Build and maintain technical relationships and thought leadership with key customers
- Become the confidence level and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for VIAVI Security Solutions in-region
- Design, dimension, and architect Test systems based on customer requirements and performance criteria.
- Installation and commissioning of TeraVM test systems and software
- Delivering technical product training to customer base.
- Ownership of customer issues - Logging, investigation, and resolution of faults and defects
- Undertake Systems Engineering, debugging and diagnosis of issues in lab and cloud-based platforms.
- Work closely with VIAVI Solutions Engineering and Product Management teams
- Advocate for customers across a cross-functional organisation
- Help qualify feature requests and prioritise
- The role is likely to involve some travel to key customer engagements – flexibility to travel is required
Qualifications Mandatory - Technical Degree and/or equivalent practical experience
- 3-5 years' experience in a data networking and/or security related role for (but not limited to)
- Network Equipment vendor organisation or Service Provider (Telecom or SaaS provider)
- Must have deep knowledge of common network protocols, services, and applications.
- L4-L7 Application protocols, OSI Model and common routing and switching protocols
- Strong knowledge of Switches, Routers, Firewalls, IDS/IPS and VPN related Network architectures
- Experience with private and public Cloud technologies - VMWare, KVM, AWS, MS Azure, GCP etc.
- Hands-on experience of Linux operating systems and architecture.
- Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills (external customer facing and internal)
- Willingness and ability to work on own initiative and collaborate with wider team
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements: Desirable Qualifications - Practical experience of working on Security functions - SIEM, SASE, ZTNA, SAML IdP/SSO etc.
- Industry standard networking and security qualifications are an advantage (CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, AWS, GCP etc.)
- Knowledge of Scripting and Test Automation tools such as Jenkins, Robot, Python, Perl, Tshark, etc.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes cloud platforms
- Knowledge of 4G/5G network topologies
