Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated SQL/postgres DB developer with minimum 6 years of hands on /relevant experience to join our team and lead the conversion of our existing SQL database to a modern PostgreSQL database. You will be responsible for analyzing the existing SQL database schema, procedures, functions, and data types, and then rewriting them for optimal performance and functionality in PostgreSQL. This role requires strong expertise in both SQL and PostgreSQL, as well as a passion for database optimization and migration.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze the existing SQL database schema, procedures, functions, and data types.
• Design and implement a comprehensive conversion plan to migrate the database to PostgreSQL.
• Develop efficient and equivalent SQL queries and PL/pgSQL functions in PostgreSQL.
• Adapt existing data types to their closest PostgreSQL equivalents, considering performance and storage implications.
• Optimize queries and procedures for efficient execution in PostgreSQL.
• Test and validate the converted database functionality thoroughly.
• Write clear and concise documentation for the conversion process and migrated code.
• Collaborate with database administrators and application developers to ensure a smooth transition.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in PostgreSQL and database migration best practices.

Skills & qualification:

• 3+ years of experience in SQL development and query optimization.
• 2+ years of experience with PostgreSQL administration and development.
• Experience with database migration tools and methodologies is a plus.
• Strong understanding of database design principles and normalization techniques.
• Excellent understanding of relational algebra and query optimization techniques.
• Proficient in scripting languages like Python or Bash.
• Experience with version control systems like Git is a plus.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering .
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Certifications (Desirable)

1. AWS Solution Architect Associate or Up

2. SQLServer, Postgres related certifications

3. AWS Certified Database - Specialty Certification

Working Hours : One of the two shifts*

6.30 PM IST – 3.30 AM IST ( will Chage to 5.30 PM IST – 2.30 AM IST with day light savings in US)

9.30 PM IST – 6.30 AM IST ( will Chage to 8.30 PM IST – 5.30 AM IST with day light savings in US)
