Role: Imperva DDOS Engineer

Location: Hyderabad, Pune or Bangalore

Experience: 3-8 Years

Responsibilities:

  • Formulate, design, and execute comprehensive strategies for Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection in alignment with clients security needs and business objectives.
  • Provide oversight, including monitoring metrics, managing risks and issues, and handling escalations. Prioritize incidents, service tickets, changes, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust the DDoS protection posture to counter emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Lead the implementation, configuration, and management of Imperva DDoS solutions across client environments.
  • Ensure the optimal performance, scalability, and availability of the Imperva DDoS infrastructure.
  • Establish proactive and reactive measures for real-time detection and mitigation of DDoS attacks.
  • Collaborate with the incident response team to swiftly and effectively address and resolve DDoS incidents.
  • Offer expert guidance and consult with clients on Imperva DDoS protection strategies, best practices, and solutions.
  • Generate reports based on business requirements and collaborate with the business on unstructured folder remediation.
  • Provide oversight for operational incident tickets (P1/P2/P3) or service requests per agreed-upon Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
  • Support responses to helpdesk inquiries, conduct L1/L2/L3 reviews, triage, and respond to alerts triggered by data protection solutions.
  • Configure/tune new and existing rulesets/policies for DDoS, providing proactive and real-time guidance to customers on network configuration, security protocols, and defensive security response.
  • Identify root causes of problems involving DDOS technology platforms, networks, and architectures.
  • Regularly monitor and analyze the performance of Imperva DDoS solutions to ensure adherence to defined security and performance standards.
  • Implement optimization strategies to enhance the efficiency of DDoS mitigation.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports on the status and effectiveness of Imperva DDoS protection measures.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, incident response procedures, and best practices.

Requirements- Over 6 years of network security experience, with at least 2 years focused on Imperva DDoS design, implementation, and operations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Security, Engineering, or Information Technology.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the entire network security ecosystem, including well-rounded knowledge of information security domains and their interrelations.
  • Hands-on experience with the implementation and operation of Imperva DDoS, and familiarity with other DDoS products such as Akamai.
  • Deep domain expertise in the Data Privacy, Security, and Data Management market, including knowledge of regulatory requirements and data protection technologies.
  • Familiarity with various data protection technologies, such as Data Masking, Data Encryption, DLP, Key Management, etc.
  • Experience with data protection and management techniques and process integration, preferably within an enterprise organization.
  • In-depth understanding of commonly used protocols and services (e.g., SSL, TCP/UDP, FTP/SFTP, NTP, Telnet, NFS, SSH, LDAP, etc.).
  • Level 3 experience with DDOS and support in an enterprise/large corporate environment.
  • Contribution as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in network security technologies.
  • Configuration and deployment of DDOS-related policies for various security devices.
  • Creation of process documents, SOPs, and runbooks for managing day-to-day operations.
  • Excellent knowledge of ITIL and a strong ability to define, execute, and enforce key ITIL processes like incident, problem, and change management.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, track, and report on project timelines/milestones using collaboration tools such as ServiceNow/Jira.

Preferred:

  • Training or certifications related to Imperva DDoS or any other DDoS and Network Security is a plus.
  • Experience with leading and advising clients on security, encompassing risk, governance, technology, regulatory drivers, and IT security frameworks such as NIST, ISO, and ITIL standards.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizing skills to foster an efficient work environment conducive to teamwork and collaboration.
  • Preparedness to ensure that standards and procedures are in place for the work of the team.
