Compositing Supervisor (VFX)

Job description
The Compositing Supervisor plays a vital role within the 2D department. This person will be responsible for the quality control of the compositing work, assessing technical options, acting as a creative and technical guide to the compositing team, ensuring that project-specific high standards are met and that the requirements set by Jellyfish Pictures are achieved.
The compositing Supervisor will manage the compositing team assigned to a project whilst ensuring fluid communication between production, 3D, editorial and other departments, helping to set up shows and contributing to the development of the overall compositing pipeline. In addition to managing the project, the compositing supervisor also over-sees each shot by working directly with the artist, the VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor, and show Producer.
Responsibilities: - Work closely with production to bid and schedule work
- Allocate shots and tasks to compositing artists appropriately to their level of expertise and ability
- Collaborates with the VFX Supervisor, Leads and CG Supervisors to define the creative and technical approach for the show
- Work closely with the DMP department
- Help set up the job and the colour pipeline for the show
- Take responsibility for the quality of the work of the team as a whole
- Attend daily and client reviews with the compositing team and production
- Balance the creative and technical aspects of each shot/sequence
- Solve and support with any difficult technical and artistic compositing challenges of a shot or sequence
- Ensuring artist schedules are realistic and achievable
- Play a leadership role in guiding the longer-term goals of the 2D department, both building up a team of Compositors as well as 2D pipeline development
- Participate in reviewing incoming applicants for immediate or other projects as required
- Work with Crew Management to provide feedback on the team's and individual's performance
- Potential for on set VFX supervision
- Work proactively and collaboratively with all other VFX and support departments
What we are looking for: - Highly experienced in Compositing for TV and film
- Excellent working knowledge of Nuke and other compositing software
- Previous experience in a VFX leadership role
- Highly organised with excellent communication skills
- Deep understanding of TV & film VFX processes, pipeline and colour workflow
- Strong knowledge of ShotGrid & RV a plus
- Critical eye for detail
- Able to work well within a team and stay calm under pressure
- Lead Comp, Artist management and mentoring skills
