Position Overview: Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the fabrication operations. This includes managing the entire fabrication process, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations, supervising a team of employees, and coordinating with clients and stakeholders to meet project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabrication Operations Management:
- Oversee and manage all fabrication activities within the pressure vessel yard, including cutting, welding, forming, and assembly processes.
- Develop and implement fabrication plans, schedules, and strategies to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of fabrication activities to ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, and safety protocols.
- Optimize fabrication processes, workflows, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to identify and resolve any issues or deviations from standards.
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead and manage a team of fabrication technicians, welders, fitters, and other personnel.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to the fabrication team to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Set performance goals and expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and address any performance or disciplinary issues.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the fabrication yard.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations related to pressure vessel fabrication.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards or risks.
- Investigate and report any accidents, incidents, or near misses, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Client and Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and engineers to understand project requirements and specifications.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to clients regarding fabrication processes, materials, and quality standards.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Prepare and manage budgets for the fabrication yard, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
- Monitor costs, expenses, and project expenditures to meet budgetary targets.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements to enhance profitability and competitiveness.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (preferred).
- Extensive experience in fabrication, including knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section VIII, API 650, etc.).
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding techniques, materials, and quality control methods.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
