Be part of the data operations team that defines data strategy by extracting analytical insights from dashboards, in-depth data analysis and driving solutions through innovative change and pro-active data management of global instrument reference data a JP Morgan.

Posting Description

The Instrument Reference Data team is part of the wider Data Solution Operations team in the Securities Services Organization. Having quality data is crucial to every part of the organization. It facilitates seamless trading, efficient operations, investment activities, accurate reporting and generation of insights. The Data Strategist applies analysis and strategy to improves these activities.

As the Data Strategist, you will leverage your analytical and problem solving skills and define data strategy. You will also design and develop data visualization dashboards to extract analytical insights, identify data quality themes and work with stakeholders to curate strategies to address them. You will perform root-cause analysis to identify and refine processes to improve data quality and deliver value to stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Formulate data strategies for a variety of challenges through analytical insights derived from tools/techniques
  • Manage and drive data quality initiatives which includes change management, data analytics and data quality related projects
  • Design and build visualization for data related metrics and analytics
  • Work closely with data teams across the region and across team on data related activities
  • Lead stakeholder meetings to discuss requirements, challenges and progress of data quality initiatives
  • Manage and coordinate data quality strategy discussions and prioritization forums
  • Ensuring proper controls and procedures are in line with company policies on data solutions and design and manage financial, reputational and operational risk

Required Qualifications, Capabilities And Skills

  • Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree (in Finance, Science or Technology) or equivalent
  • At least (1-2yrs for Analyst, 2-4yrs for Associate) work experience in Financial Services is required
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to details to formulate effective strategies and solutions to address pain points and improve efficiency
  • Inquisitive and analytical mindset, challenges the status quo, strive for excellence, with awareness of multiple risk factors
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively within a team and across departments, able to drive conversations to extract the require details
  • Experience using digital tools like Power BI/Qlik/Tableau, Alteryx, JIRA/Confluence and AI tools/models
  • Experience with data related languages; SQL, Python, R

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities And Skills

  • Strong understanding of data management principles for financial services; governance, quality, storage, modelling, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of financial instruments, corporate action events and data vendors (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, ICE, MSCI, etc)
  • Experience in design, develop, maintain and deploy visualizations using PowerBI/Tableau/Qlik
  • Experience in writing advance SQL and Python queries/code
