Job description
The Capital Expenditures Controller & Manufacturing & Engineering Finance Business Partner at Unilever holds a dual role that involves overseeing capital expenditure activities while also serving as a strategic financial partner to the Manufacturing and Engineering teams. This position is responsible for managing the global capital investment process, financial planning, and performance analysis, as well as Unilever systems, thereby contributing to effective decision-making and operational excellence.
The role gives the opportunity to embrace the digital journey, encouraging improvements in reporting, automation, and experimentation in new systems. The role reports to the Global Supply Chain Controlling & Capabilities Lead but will work closely with all members of the team as well as with peers across Supply Chain and Uniops.
Key Responsibilities:
Capital Expenditures Controller:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to set up an effective & efficient process to evaluate and prioritize capital expenditure proposals, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and financial targets.
- Define tools & methods for BGs and Global Functions to develop comprehensive financial analyses, business cases, and feasibility studies for proposed capital projects, highlighting potential risks, benefits, and alternatives.
- Monitor ongoing capital projects, tracking expenses to budgets to ensure adherence to approved plans.
- Establish and maintain a robust financial control framework for capital expenditures (including SOAs), ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial consolidations for all Unilever functions, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
- Own the Marlin Investment tool (Global Capex system) and maintain a high level of hygiene and reports accuracy.
Manufacturing & Engineering Finance Business Partner:
- Collaborate closely with the Manufacturing and Engineering teams to drive cross-functional initiatives
- Provide financial expertise in areas such as financial planning, and process improvements,
- Core member in project Jazz that implies the replacement of several existing project & cash flow management tool, onto a single UBO platform to be used by Unilever for the next 10-15 years.
Skills & Leadership Requirements:
- Professional finance qualification equivalent to CA, CIMA, ACCA
- 5+ years experience in Finance Business Partnering with deep exposure to Supply Chain and Category environments
- Strong proficiency with Excel, forecasting and financial modelling.
- Capable & willingness to juggle between strategic thinking and operational and administrative mindset
- Excellent communication skills with ability to respond under pressure
- Passion for high performance and collaborative team player
- Ability and drive to work independently
- Proven track record in managing and influencing large and complex set of stakeholders
- High degree of flexibility, ability to understand and pivot between topics
- Strong knowledge of key finance processes, systems, controls, roles & responsibilities
