Drafting Technician/Technologist

The Environment business unit of AtkinsRéalis is a rapidly growing full-service consulting firm that is dedicated to responding to the changing needs of our clients. POSITION: Environmental Drafting Technician/Technologist

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Regular - Full Time (37.5 - 45 hours per week depending on province/country)

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Post-secondary education in a related field (Certificate, Diploma, Degree, etc.)

WORK EXPERIENCE: 3+ years

FIELD OF STUDY: Drafting, Civil Engineering, Surveying, Architectural

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completed post-secondary education in a related field (Certificate, Diploma, Degree, etc.)

Proficient with Microsoft Office with proven advanced skills in utilizing Excel, and Access to prepare and maintain databases and tables.

Self-starter with the competence to take initiative and go beyond what the job situation requires.

Willingness to learn new skills and serve as support in a number of capacities.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Excellent time management skills and the ability to change priorities to meet group needs.

Knowledge of sciences and/or environmental industry would be considered an asset.

Experience working with LiDAR and/or point cloud data considered an asset.

Volumetric calculating considered an asset.

Slope stability design considered an asset.

Experience with land development construction plan preparation considered an asset.

Computer Skills

AutoCAD 2018 or higher

AutoCAD Civil 3D

Autodesk Recap

MicroStation

Surfer

Pathfinder Office

ArcGIS 10.6 and/or ArcGIS Pro

gINT software or knowledge of borehole logs

Revit or BIM related software

ArcGIS plugin for AutoCAD

JOB DUTIES:

Preparation of construction plans for site development including by not limited to site geometry, grading, drainage, paving, utilities, plan coordination, sections, details, working in AutoCAD Civil 3D including creating and editing surfaces, alignments, and corridors.

Reads and interprets survey data, legal descriptions, government standards and codes, and applies to design.

Performs calculations as required, such as cut/fill and volumetric calculations.

Develops and lays out designs to be reviewed by a senior technical professional for conformance with specifications and client requirements.

Uses CAD to design, redesign, modify or otherwise edit existing design.

Checks final design on screen to verify completeness, clarity, and accuracy of drawing.

Prepares graphic presentations to support feasibility studies and proposals, as required.

May technical data for specifications provides quantities and cost estimates, as required.

Maintains working knowledge of governmental regulations, codes and ordinances and their application.

Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

Utilize Civil 3D Production tools and templates to maintain quality and consistency in deliverables.

Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset.
