Job description
As a Team Lead for Buyer Planners, your main responsibility is to oversee and guide a team of buyer planners in effectively managing procurement activities, optimizing inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. You will provide leadership, support, and mentorship to the team, while collaborating with other departments to streamline operations and drive overall supply chain efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Team Management:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of buyer planners, providing guidance and support in their daily activities.
- Set performance goals and objectives for individual team members, conducting regular performance evaluations and providing feedback.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, encouraging teamwork, communication, and professional growth.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels, manage work assignments, and allocate resources efficiently.
Procurement and Inventory Management:
- Collaborate with the team to develop and implement procurement strategies, negotiate with suppliers, and establish favorable terms and conditions.
- Oversee the purchasing process, ensuring timely and accurate purchase order placement, tracking, and receipt of goods.
- Analyze demand forecasts, market trends, and historical data to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce excess inventory.
- Monitor supplier performance and manage relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of procurement and inventory management processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as logistics, sales, and finance to streamline operations, improve communication, and drive supply chain optimization.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance systems, tools, and technologies to support buyer planners' workflow and improve overall productivity.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate and analyze reports, key performance indicators (KPIs), and metrics to monitor team performance, inventory accuracy, and supplier performance.
- Present findings and recommendations to management, highlighting areas for improvement, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy, maintaining proper documentation and records related to procurement activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience of 8+ years in procurement, inventory management, or supply chain planning roles, with leadership experience of 3+ years.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, inventory management techniques, and supply chain best practices.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in procurement and inventory management software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with strong organizational and time management skills.
