Coding and Billing For Physiotherapy Units Responsibilities Review documentation of physical therapy services provided to ensure completeness and accuracy. Assign appropriate CPT codes to physical therapy procedures, evaluations, and interventions based on documentation and coding guidelines. Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to rendering services by PTs Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers. AR -Follow up on outstanding claims, denials, and unpaid accounts receivable. Respond to billing inquiries and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner. Stay updated on changes to CPT codes, billing regulations, and reimbursement policies. Collaborate with clinical staff, administrators, and insurance representatives to address coding and billing issues. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations. Participate in training sessions and continuing education programs to enhance coding and billing skills. Key Requirements AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Biller (CPB), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) of AHIMA credentials required. Minimum of 2- years of experience in medical coding and billing, preferably in a physical therapy setting or any other settings Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes. Knowledge of insurance billing procedures, including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems ,webpt ,billing software and APTA guidlines Understanding of healthcare compliance regulations, including HIPAA.
