Role The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering proactive and high-quality HR services to our Jefferies' professionals in India, a total population size of approximately 135 employees. The role is based in Mumbai and there will be close partnership with the regional HR team, the local COE team based in Mumbai, and with HR colleagues in New York. The role encompasses both strategic, regulatory and operational responsibilities.
Responsibilities The HR Business Partner will act as a trusted advisor and will provide support to the business across the full range of HR disciplines as outlined below:
- Recruitment (Lateral and Campus)
- Partner with the businesses locally to drive hiring and manage headcount approvals. Partner with the Talent Acquisition group as well as the Campus Recruiting team to ensure consistency, accuracy and parity. Drive Campus recruiting locally and partner closely with the key universities to ensure we hire top talent in the local market. Manage the hiring approval processes, contracts and ensure seamless on-boarding for all new hires.
- Performance Management
- Work closely with line managers to ensure the performance feedback process is managed effectively. This includes, but is not limited to: coaching managers to deliver effective mid-year and year-end reviews; managing the ratings process; attending relevant roundtables and/or committee meetings; preparing all appropriate meeting materials; advising senior management on outcomes; and working closely with the global team for parity.
- Regulatory
- Assess the local requirements and recommend a framework to ensure we are compliant with local regulations.
- Employee Relations
- Actively partner with Employment Legal Counsel on all employee relations issues to avoid and mitigate risk. This includes performance management issues, complaint handling, escalation, investigation procedures, and resolutions in a sensitive and timely manner.
- Compensation
- Conduct internal and external compensation benchmarking/analysis. Implement necessary system changes, update process documents, conduct audits, and complete other ad hoc requirements for the year-end compensation process.
- Talent Development
- Assess training and development needs and partner with the Training and Development team to create and implement learning opportunities for all levels across each of the business areas.
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Partner with our DE&I team to foster an inclusive and diverse work environment. Actively participate in Employee Resource Group events to better understand each group's mission and offer feedback to our DE&I team on how we can better recruit, retain, and empower diverse employees, as well as promote community outreach and engagement.
- Reporting:
- Process employee data changes and maintain accurate employee records. Assist on reporting and data requests by various groups across the firm. Prepare headcount and data analytics for senior management.
- Other
- Manage ad-hoc projects as required by either global, regional HR and/or senior management. Assist with on-time implementation of all corporate HR initiatives, tailored appropriately to local requirements/business requirements.
Skills And Experience - 8+ years' HR experience working in a global, highly matrixed Financial Services firm is essential. Strong experience of India regulatory and local employment law preferred.
- Experience working with Investment Banking or other front office businesses is preferred.
- Exposure across a broad HR remit including involvement in recruitment, performance management, talent management, promotions, retention, employee relations, compensation, and budgeting.
- Proven ability to gain credibility at all levels quickly; excellent relationship management skills.
- Experience working effectively as part of a team, solution oriented, demonstrating initiative and proactively contributing ideas, views and recommendations for best practices and process improvement.
- Ability to work independently with a high-level of accuracy and strong attention to detail, while adhering to tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and distil information for management presentations.
- Pragmatic, results-driven and 'can do' attitude is essential.
- Excellent client service focus.
- HRIS experience – system navigation, data maintenance, reporting, etc.
- Advanced Excel skills is a must – proficient with VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, Conditional Formatting, and other formulas (SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, MIN, MAX, Average Arrays, etc.)
