FloatSys is in the process of strengthening our vessel engineering group and have urgent requirements for MARINE SYSTEMS ENGINEERS .

Role Description

As a Marine Systems Engineer, you are expected to be familiar with spaces within the hull and utilize your knowledge of engineering principles and procedures in the design of Marine systems. You are responsible for identifying innovative methods to carry out assigned tasks, ensuring all required marine systems are functional and accounted for within a design, and are compliant with internal and external requirements. You must be familiar with marine systems and associated materials/equipment needed to design functional systems to meet client and Company needs. You may be assigned as a Package Engineer with technical responsibility for the design, procurement, and manufacture of the Package. The Marine Engineer must prioritize activities and liaise with other Discipline Leads as needed to ensure deliverables.

Qualification and Experience:

· BE/ B. Tech or ME/M. Tech in any Mechanical/Marine engineering.

· 15 years of relevant experience needed, which include experience in design calculations related to marine systems in shipyard design office or in the plan approval department of a marine classification society.

· Knowledge of tanker systems and FPSO systems will be of added advantage.

Job Responsibilities:

  Specific Responsibilities

· Sound experience FEED, Design and Detail Engineering activities/projects.

· Good interface knowledge with related disciplines i.e. Naval, E&I, Piping, HVAC, Process, Technical Safety & Regulatory.

· Familiar with the flow analysis software's, Line sizing, pressure drop calculation, Preparation of valve data sheets, Line list, flow & surge analysis, Pipe material specification, design reports of ballast ,bilge system etc.

· Familiar with rules of classification societies (i.e.: ABS, DNV GL, BV and Lloyds), international organizations and proper implementation of Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) policies.

· Participation during key project reviews, plot plan reviews, Hazop, lesson learned workshops, constructability review and Design/model review meetings. .

• Develop Marine System Design Basis, Philosophies and Functional specifications.
• Develop and /or review Marine Systems PFD / UFD, P&IDs.
• Be proficient in developing and /or review of calculation reports, equipment & line sizing, line pressure drops, , flow balance etc.

  General Responsibilities

• Design and engineer safe, effective, and efficient Marine Systems in conformance with Company and Project requirements, and all applicable and relevant legislation, standards, and codes, under the supervision of a Senior/Lead/Expert Marine Systems Engineer and/or Department Manager/Discipline Supervisor.
• Implement ideas and engineering solutions, which enhances departmental and Company performance in Marine Systems Engineering.
• Understand requirement of classification societies and other regulatory bodies involved with the safety, integrity, and legality of the Company's Marine Systems designs.
• Actively interface with other engineering disciplines during the course of project execution and/or engineering development activities with good communication proficiency.
• Study existing Marine Systems designs and reengineer as per contract requirement (for brownfield / conversion projects)
• Recommend Marine Systems inspection requirements for brownfield / conversion projects.
• Interface with Drafters and/or Design Engineers for elaboration of drawings.
• Assist in developing man-hours allocation for engineering deliverables and activities.
• Document all deviations from agreed scope and budget hours to accurately adjust man hour forecast and project completion date for related changes
• Understand and monitor all interfaces with Class Society and Clients to ensure requirements are properly addressed and relevant documents are reviewed timely
• Manage the interfaces with Vendor, Subcontractors and third-party consultants and ensure relevant documents are reviewed timely and thoroughly. Participate and verify system design on 3D modelling activities carried out by Design Team.
• Participate in the inter discipline design reviews
