Job description
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience in engineering, and 10 years of experience in leading organizations of engineers.
- Experience building interactions between users, developers, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience building and running engineering organizations globally.

As Director of Engineering, you will serve as the site lead for Google Play's cross-functional presence. You will work closely with global Google Play Leadership to grow a team in India. You will be responsible for building a community and a one-team culture, leading and driving regional all-team meetings, and serving as one of the executive-most team members in the region.
In this role, you will be part of the global leadership team, responsible for building and managing business generation infrastructure used and deployed across the global Android fleet. You will be responsible for executing the central strategy and building a team that can successfully solve complex product/engineering challenges for the global market.
The Platforms and Ecosystems product area encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications). The products provide enterprises, and ultimately end users, the ability to utilize and manage their services at scale. We build innovative and compelling software products-from apps to TVs, from laptops to phones-that have an impact on people's lives across the world.
Responsibilities
- Hire and build an exceptional Google Play cross-functional team including executive leadership to drive and execute on Google Play's roadmap.
- Build and support a culture of inclusion and belonging, where excellence, quality execution, collaborative teamwork, and innovation are expected and rewarded.
- Serve as an executive leader for Google Play in India. Develop and grow talent and leadership capabilities through effective mentoring, development, and coaching.
- Shape and deliver global Google Play products. Provide technical leadership to your engineering team, be a partner for cross-functional teams including Product Management, UX, and other partner teams to deliver the best product offering.
- Manage a software engineering team that builds, designs, implements, and maintains front-ends and back-ends for Google Play Store. Ensure the successful delivery of engineering projects, including on-time delivery.
