What can you expect in this role The Manager, Corporate Development has the unique opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities to support the Corporate Development team, which includes the corporate acquisition strategy and execution activities, including carrier acquisitions, broker investments and partnerships, corporate venturing and competitive analysis:
- Play an important role in identifying and assessing potential acquisition targets across the P&C value chain, as well as other corporate initiatives, for strategic fit and value generation
- Manage the execution of acquisition and divestiture transactions, including but not limited to deal sourcing, due diligence, executive and regulatory approval, transaction documentation, and integration support
- Lead the preparation of financial analysis, including building complex models, assessment of synergies / dis-synergies, valuation analysis, and accretion / dilution
- Monitor acquisition and investment activity within the Canadian P&C industry, including creation and maintenance of operational and transaction databases.
- Supervise the production of industry benchmarking reports and lead update / development of new industry benchmarking reports
- Provide support as required for ad hoc requests from cross-functional teams and other corporate strategic initiatives
- Play a lead role in mentoring and developing our junior analysts
What do you bring to the role - Completed university degree, preferably within accounting, business, finance, or actuarial science , with high proven achievement
- CPA / CFA / CBV designation
- 5 to 8 years work experience in a finance-related role, preferably with experience in the areas of corporate development, investment banking, management consulting and financial modelling
- Sophisticated analytical and business valuation skills, including ability to construct, analyze and critique complex financial models
- Interest and/or prior experience in financial services industries in general, and insurance specifically, would be an asset
- Strong understanding of the capital markets and trends in industry-related acquisition and divestiture activity
- Considerable working knowledge of Bloomberg, Capital IQ, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to operate with a flexible work schedule, given transactional nature of role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including C-level executive
Salary range is $75,700 - $152,300. Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate various incentive plans which are paid out at the discretion of the company and subject to individual and company performance.
