Job Summary

The Operations Research Center of Excellence (OR COE) team at Bread Financial measures, evaluates and optimizes the performance of various business processes spanning multiple business functions in order to maximize their profitability. The Operations Research Analyst is responsible for the development of monitoring solutions and analytic methods that will aid in the calibration and optimization of internal and customer facing processes. The analyst works collaboratively to build and manage a process control monitoring suite. This suite leverages statistical methods such as control charting in order to both highlight issues and identify optimization opportunities. The Operations Research Analyst is expected to be able to identify inefficient and non-value added process steps that lead to an effort of continuous process improvement.

Job Description

  • Develop Monitoring Solutions : Identify opportunities and develop research agendas on specific operational process/capabilities, apply statistical principles to establish a baseline of the 'in control' processes and build statistical control charts to monitor the process, identify issues, send out alerts. The ongoing monitoring will highlight unexpected variations in performance and guide investigation into the root cause. Identify opportunities for enhancing the functionality of the monitoring tools. Work on Proof of concepts to showcase new solutions to clients. Support and own the Root cause analysis exercise for the issues identified from on-going monitoring.
  • Process Design: Work with internal partners from various verticals including Commercial, Operations, Enterprise Data Science & Analytics, IT etc. to understand the functionality of the processes being evaluated. Map the process flow into its core components and define metrics to identify key performance measures.
  • Document processes and data: Where process documentation gaps exist, this role will help to establish documentation for future reference. This may include documenting process flows or advocating for proper data documentation and governance. Effectively researches and resolves ad-hoc requests in relation to capability performance within the focus of acquisition, digital, and purchase capabilities. Applies knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Teams to execute daily work
  • Process improvement & Optimization Analytics: Where processes are currently being monitored by the monitoring suite, the analyst is expected to regularly investigate and work on the issues identified from the ongoing monitoring identify opportunities to optimize these processes. The ongoing monitoring optimization will drive value through cost savings, increased efficiency and additional revenue generation. Providing process performance insight will generate ongoing process research questions. The answering of these research questions will guide the continuous enhancement of existing processes. This role will be an active participant in the investigation and answering of process and performance related questions. Where process optimization opportunities are identified, assist team members in synthesizing the data and building a business case for process change. This may include additional data gathering and cost/value sizing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Area of Study: Mathematics, Statistics ,Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Process Engineering
  • Two or more years experience using SQL and statistical applications (e.g. SAS, R, and PYTHON) for process monitoring and optimization in an Operations Research Analysis or Process Engineering related role
  • Years of Work Experience Required: Two to five
  • Type / focus of work experience required: SQL, statistical applications, Business Intelligence, Data Analysis, Statistical Analysis

Preferred Experience

  • Degree Preferred: Master's Degree
  • Area of Study: Mathematics, Statistics ,Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Process Engineering
  • Two or more years experience using SQL and statistical applications (e.g. SAS, R, and PYTHON) for process monitoring and optimization in an Operations Research Analysis or Process Engineering related role
  • Knowledge of the Payment, Lending & Savings or similar financial products preferred
