Job Description: MSS is looking for an experienced Data Modeler to join our team and focus on creating data products in Databricks. The job starts with modeling data in Databricks, primarily pulling information in near real-time from SAP and other systems of record for a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) company. We need someone who is proficient in working with data and understands the value of using data to improve business operations. You'll be responsible for connecting complex data solutions with business requirements, making sure our data engineering projects align with our strategic goals and compliant with industry standards and best practices. You should have strong analytical skills, technical knowledge, and a thorough understanding of data engineering in the Azure Databricks environment. You'll work closely with data scientists, engineers, and stakeholders, converting business requirements into a viable data model for company-wide data. This position is in a fast-paced and demanding environment. We need someone skilled in data analysis and interpretation who is also eager to tackle complex business problems with proven industry patterns and best practices in data modelling and Datawarehouse design. The individual(s) selected for this position will: • Develop dimensional and transactional calculated views in Databricks for data retrieved in near real-time from SAP ECC 6 instance. • Evaluate source data systems for variances, anomalies, and efficiency and apply them for data quality checks in Databricks implementation. • Create reusable data models and patterns that scale across the enterprise. • Optimize logical and metadata models. • Collaborate with data owners and data scientists to understand relationships in enterprise source data. Required Skills • Database Design and Modeling : Proficiency in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling. Knowledge of data modeling tools (like Erwin) is essential. Prior experience developing data warehouse models supporting large datasets for CPG companies is a definite plus. • Data Warehousing Concepts : Understanding of data warehousing methodologies and concepts, including star schema, snowflake schema, ETL processes. Knowledge of foundation data lake architecture used for business consumption in reports, AI modeling, analytics, etc. • SQL and Database Technologies : Strong SQL skills are fundamental. Familiarity with various database technologies like Databricks, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and others is important. • ETL Tools : Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools and processes. Knowledge of tools like Informatica, Azure Data Factory, etc. • Business Intelligence Tools: Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI, SAC, or similar with a good understanding of how data models are utilized in reporting and analytics. • Data Quality and Governance : Understanding of data quality, governance, and stewardship principles to ensure the warehouse contains clean, reliable data. • Experience working with enterprise-scale systems in Finance, Marketing, Sales including SAP, • Experience working in Agile Scrum with Azure Devops is a definite plus. • Experience in Smart Data Access and Smart Data Integration will be an added advantage. Education Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field Desired Skills Candidates with professional certification(s) and experience working with SAP and Databricks integrations are highly desired. Soft Skills: • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Flexibility and ability to work as a self-starter and team player.Job tags
