Job Summary Supply Chain & Inventory Replenishment Data & ML engineering team is responsible for building data, analytics, ML products which provide visibility across Lowes supply chain, identify bottlenecks and enhance the efficiency of supply chain and inventory replenishment planning. The team is going through a major tech transformation with the adoption of new cloud technologies. We are looking for an engineering leader to join the team as a principal data engineer and lead the technical transformation. The primary purpose of this role is to design cross-functional solutions for highly complex requirements while ensuring that applications work in concert across Lowe's. This includes leading the development, configuration, or modification of new solutions for the business and resolving architectural or design deficiencies. In addition, this role provides consultation to help ensure new and existing Data, BI or Platform solutions are developed with insight into industry best practices, strategies, and architectures.

Main Responsibilities a) Work with Directors/Sr. Directors to define technical roadmap, assess current state products, identify tech debt and work with Engineering Directors to prioritize and deliver the same. Plan improvements and features with a 6-9 months view. b) Solve technical problems of the highest scope, complexity, and ambiguity for the department. Be the a point of escalation for engineering teams facing complex technical challenges c) Collaborate and create technical proposals cutting across several teams and their engineering work, support team members d) Work with Product Management to understand business problems and define technical solution blueprint for key products. Collaborate with enterprise architects to ensure that solutions are aligned to enterprise architecture strategy e) The principal engineer is expected to be hands on and deliver proof of concept rapidly to prove the viability of the tech solution, create reference architecture for analytical and ML products. Mentor team members to build the solution with right level of engineering rigour f) Work with data scientists, understand currently deployed ML products and develop application frameworks to run and operate ML products at scale with proper guard rails g) Enable the department to adopt new technologies in the data space while working closely with tech leadership and enterprise architecture group. Proposes initial technical solutions which supports architectural changes that solve scaling and performance problems. h) Rapidly gain expertise of current application stack and products running in production. Ability to identify and support the team to during major production incidents and fixing the problem. Knowledgeable in all technologies & products within the Department i) Proactively identify opportunities to reuse or generalize existing services and product features. Avoids duplication of effort by encouraging collaboration.

Qualifications • Bachelor's/Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, CIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field) • 12-15 years of experience in product development with 5+ years hands on experience in platform or product engineering with Big Data technology stack

Required Engineering Experience • Must have product development background and demonstrated experience of building 2-3 enterprise products end to end and successfully delivering to production • Demonstrated experience in data platform/infrastructure engineering, leading design and development with atleast 2 major platform/infrastructure projects successfully delivered to production • Experience with systems integration, best practices around integration patterns, event driven architecture • Ability to collaborate and influence technical decisions • Retail industry domain experience is a plus • Expertise in Java/Scala/Python, SQL, Scripting, Hadoop (Sqoop, Hive, Pig, Map Reduce), Spark (Spark Streaming, MLib), Kafka or equivalent Cloud Big data components • Experience with Google/AWS/Azure. Experience with Google Cloud stack (GCS, Big Query, Dataproc, Vertex AI etc.) would be an advantage
