Role Description
Group Chief Operating Office (COO) acts as the bridge between the bank’s businesses and infrastructure functions to help deliver the efficiency, control, and transformation goals of the bank. By working towards an agreed operating model (technology, processes, people, data and controls) for the entire bank, Group COO enable business and help the bank reinvest into further growth opportunities. The role sits within the Chief Risk Office (CRO) COO group, which aim to drive an effective and efficient CRO organisation and is closely aligned to the respective risk functions.
The selected candidate will be supporting the Regulatory and Findings Management function for Market and Valuation Risk Management (MVRM), a 2nd line of Defense (2LOD) control under the Bank's CRO. MVRM globally identifies, assesses, and manages the market risks, and is responsible for independent valuation of balance sheet positions, predominantly across the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB).

Your key responsibilities
The successful applicant will be a Vice-President Level and will be part of the MVRM Global Regulatory and Finding Management function providing direct support to the Market and Valuation Risk Management Functions on Regulatory, Audit, Framework and Governance topics. The candidate will also have line management responsibilities for resource as we expand the team in India. You will be working in a highly passionate and a dynamic global team. The objective of the Regulatory and Finding Management function is to review the existing regulations, support the execution of regulatory and audit interactions and ultimately delivered on the committed remediation and closure of findings. To that end, the team ensures that the Group maintains strong and productive engagement with regulators, external examiners, and Group Audit. The team partners closely with subject matter experts within the Group.
The successful candidate should have a good understanding and knowledge of valuation control and market risk. Project management, stakeholder engagement skills and regulatory knowledge to support MVRM regulatory and audit oversight book of work would be ideal.
The candidate will:
- oversee the MVRM portfolio of Findings and Supervisory Obligations. Provide detailed reports and insight through the MVRM findings governance program to divisional stakeholders and senior management fora.
- support MVRM in the coordination of external audit interaction, including in-depth audit exams and ad hoc requests. Coordination activities include project management of exams, oversight, and review of materials prior to submission, managing stakeholder participation and presentations, overseeing follow up requests, and ensuring that logistical needs are covered.
- provide support and guidance to the Finding Owners / Project Managers on best practice finding management, risk management and Policy requirements.
- synthesize regulatory feedback and findings in key updates and reports provided to senior management, the CRO, and other key stakeholders.
- support the development of appropriate and diligent responses and remediation plans when findings are being discussed and identified
- assist the business lines capturing Self-Identified Control gaps, review and challenge remediation plans and ensure alignment across the bank's process, control and risk taxonomies
- effectively partner with key stakeholders and subject matter experts across VC, MRM, GSA and other Risk stripes. and businesses to promote a more integrated approach to finding management.
- depending on opportunities and book of work you may be required in supporting Valuation Control leadership in the coordination of complex regulatory interactions, including in-depth regulatory exams and ad hoc requests.

Your skills and experience
- Experience of working in Valuation Control/Market risk function and/ or risk management, audit/control or front office role
- Relevant experience working with regulators or other examining bodies is ideal.
- Superior writing skills, able to effectively present in letter or slide format.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, organizational and time management skills
- Excellent senior stakeholder management skills, ability to build constructive partnerships with diverse stakeholders and challenge where required.
- Openness to challenge and continuously challenging the status quo.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to "roll up sleeves.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively; ability to work locally and globally.
- Experienced in project management.
- High proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Self-motivated, fast and focused learner.
- Critical thinking and analytical ability to solve specific problems independently and as part of a team.
- Able to work in fast paced environment and share and receive information, knowledge and expertise within the team environment and handle change priorities as needed.
