Job Details:

Job Summary: Responsible for Compensation and Benefits Accounting and the relevant sections of the balance sheet and income statement with a strong understanding of compensation and benefits principles, including payroll processing, employee benefits administration, and compliance with tax and regulatory requirements for North America. Maintains or helps to maintain the accuracy of the entity's related books of record such as the general ledger as related to compensation and benefits accounting. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the general ledger of the larger and more complex Cubic subsidiaries for North America for compensation and benefits accounts
  • Reviews and approves general ledger account reconciliations and/or journal entries
  • Prepares account analyses for management and internal/external auditors
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information
  • Tax Compliance: Knowledge of tax laws and regulations related to compensation and benefits, including experience in handling tax reporting for employee compensation and benefits plans.
  • Systems Proficiency: Familiarity with relevant accounting software and systems, such as ERP systems or specialized compensation and benefits software.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and report on compensation and benefits data accurately.
  • Compliance Awareness: Understanding of labor laws, employment regulations, and compliance requirements related to compensation and benefits, including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Makes recommendations for improving accounting processes, and assists in implementing accounting policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as required

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree in accounting plus a minimum of 5 years of public accounting or general accounting experience, preferably in a government contracting and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Chartered Accountant certification and/or MBA preferred.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SAP and Blackline capability a plus as well as specialized compensation and benefits software.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel, management and external auditors.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects, work under deadlines.
  • Exude a can-do attitude and possess a strong dedication to providing quality service to management.
