Job description

Safety will have a domain expert who will implement, ensure and comply all required safety standards for Welspun units, ensure proper SOP and Standards in place and regular training given to site safety officers, marshals.

Site will have independent safety In-charge who will administratively report to COOs/ BU and functionally report to the Central Safety / Central Vertical Head.

Will play a crucial role in ensuring safety by providing a mechanism to monitor and manage safety-related activities within different functional areas or departments.

Certain key responsibilities for safety Expert is given as under:

  1. Safety Data Collection and Analysis : It will include the collection and analysis of safety-related data, tracking and reporting incidents, near-misses, safety inspections, audits, training records, and compliance with safety regulations. By analyzing this data, it will be easier to identify trends, potential hazards and areas that require improvement.
  2. Safety Performance Metrics : Safety Head will track safety performance metrics specific to each functional area such as track metrics such as lost-time injuries, safety incidents per hour worked, or compliance with safety protocols. These metrics help evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and identify areas where additional attention is needed.
  3. Communication and Training : He will facilitate the communication and dissemination of safety-related information within each department. This includes sharing safety policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as providing regular safety training and awareness programs to employees. Functional reporting can track and report on the completion of safety training and ensure that relevant information reaches all employees.
  4. Compliance Monitoring : He will also monitor compliance with safety regulations and standards within each functional area. This involves ensuring that safety protocols, equipment, and procedures are in place and being followed. It also includes reporting on any non-compliance or deviations from safety requirements and taking corrective actions to address them.
  5. Safety Improvement Initiatives : He should highlight opportunities for safety improvement within each functional area. It should encourage the identification and reporting of safety hazards, near-misses, or potential risks by employees. This information can be used to initiate safety improvement projects and ensure that necessary actions are taken to mitigate risks and enhance safety measures.
  6. Integration with Overall Safety Management : Functional reporting should integrate with the overall safety management system of the organization. It should provide inputs to the organization's safety committees or safety management teams, contributing to the development and implementation of comprehensive safety strategies, policies, and initiatives.
  7. By incorporating safety considerations into functional reporting, Welspun can proactively manage safety risks, enhance safety performance, and create a culture of safety across all functional areas. It helps in identifying safety gaps, implementing targeted interventions, and continuously improving safety practices to safeguard the well-being of employees and promote a safe working environment.
