Short Description for Internal Candidates

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Project Startup

  • Collection & review of the inputs either from the front office or from the customer site through email, KOM, site surveys
  • Understanding of scope of project software and hardware
  • Initial engineering : Support in FDS prepration, if required

DATABASE ENGINEERING

  • Work on IO allocations and database populations
  • Debug and release error free database
  • Understanding on selection & SW/HW configuration of turbine special I/O module like Speed,Valve Positioner and associated interface logics
  • Creation/modification of Ovation Internal Point Database

software design-control logics/ graphics

  • Design/Implementation of controls from SAMA /Functional diagrams /narratives/third party DCS/PLC systems to Ovation
  • Design/Implementation and testing of steam turbine special control functions like Speed/Load/Pressure controls, Runback, Limiters, Overspeed, PLU etc.
  • Refer plant operational philosophies, P&IDs etc. & implement control macros & symbols as per project FDS
  • Implementation of graphics from sketches/snapshots/P&Ids
  • Prepare simulation, test scenarios, test documnetation and conduct first pass test/ process testing related to steam turbine controls, HPLP bypass controls, Steam turbine protection and auxiliaries & perform troubleshooting while testing
  • Prepare control documents like control description document ,ATS document,SOE list, FAT & SAT procedures etc.
  • Ensure quality checks during various stages of design, implementation and testing
  • Ensure usage of productivity tools and library to improve engineering efficiency

DESIGN REVIEW, PREFAT/FAT ACTIVITIES

  • Participate / support in design reviews to maintain desired quality level as organization quality policy
  • Run Project audit tool and prepare pre-FAT checklists and execute project cleanup as per audit tool results
  • Cordinate with internal teams for integrated testing of steam turbine with Boiler/ HRSG/BOP/ Electrical systems as per project scope.
  • Conduct and prepare customer training presentations as required.
  • Maintain and update records as per ISO guidelines and ensure 100 % adherence of quality processes in all projects
  • Update and circulate lesson learnt during project execution
  • Actively participate in SME programs, Innvoation programs and share knowledge on the subject with the team
  • Conduct knowledge sharing session within the team
  • Support in setting up test platform for FAT as per project need and involve in preparing FAT specifications
  • Support/Conduct Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) activities and do necessary improvements/ address FAT variances to system as per customer needs

Field Services:

  • Formation of Ovation structure
  • Ovation system loading and re-loading at site and network troubleshooting.
  • Locate, differentiate, and analyze the problems arising in design of logic / field/ hardware errors and DCS
  • Maintain protocols for IO loop check, device check and panel charging
  • Perform Loop check , device test and necessary modifications in the logics, graphics and database as per customer /site requirements
  • If needed ,DCS erection supervision and commissioning at site
  • Perform steam turbine/HPLP bypass valve calibration, overspeed test
  • Perform third party communication. e.g. ELC, SLC, SCADA & OPC etc.
  • Work closely with GEC and global Emerson support team for troubleshooting
  • Support Site Acceptance Test (SAT) activities
  • Control loop tuning and commissioning of OLCS & turbine analog controls.
  • If needed, Site walk down and collection of inputs for retrofit projects
  • Regular site updates to customer, front office & GEC

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work as a team lead and manage small projects
  • Conduct/Participate in internal Kick of Meeting (KOM) of projects
  • Estimation of Project budget and delivery schedule
  • Coordination with third party vendors for design/implementation of control and graphics
  • Track budget , progress & quality of the projects and ensure periodic reporting to front offices

For This Role, You Will Need:

Education / Training / Experience

  • Bachelor's / Master's degree in Electronics/Electrical/Instrumentation/Power Engineering with minimum 6 10 year of experience in process industry preferably in power plant
  • Good Knowledge of Steam Turbine controls ,Power Plant process/ DCS
  • Good communication, interpersonal skill and drive for results
  • Strong computer skills
  • Able to work in a team
  • Willing to travel India and abroad
  • Should be able to resolve basic technical matters.
  • Self-motivation and to accept challenging assignments

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • M Tech (Control System) Preferred

Candidate having following exposure would be an added advantage.

  • Steam Turbine Engineering of Various OEM, e.g. GE/Siemens
