Job Title: Database Manager
Job Description: We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Database Manager with a proven track of managing complex database cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise spanning over 10 to 15 years in MS SQL, added advantage of having either Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
Job Responsibilities:
- 10+ years of experience in an Engineering/Architecture and operations capacity supporting a global enterprise Cloud/DC Infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on experience in at least any of the two database platforms like Microsoft SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of cloud applications, and cloud technologies (in IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS).
- Actively involved in System Performance by tuning SQL queries and stored procedures by using SQL Profiler, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, Windows performance monitor, DMVs, Resource Governor, Data Collection Reports, crystal reports, DBCC and Custom Script, Built-in performance Report and Activity Monitor.
- The primary responsibility of the DBA manager is to provide guidance and leadership and manage a team of DBAs, responsible for production data and database systems in a 24x7 environment. In this role, the DBA Manager will ensure that production data is available in a high-performance, high-availability mode across multiple cloud data centers.
- The DBA manager is responsible for continuous planning and managing data management systems to determine the most effective ways to create and structure data storage systems. The DBA Manager will bring to the role experience with SQL and NoSQL database management systems to create and enact a data infrastructure system that’s robust, secure, and scales to meet the needs of the growing organization.
- On a daily basis, the DBA manager leads and oversees a team of data administrators, and specialists to support the organization’s data storage and access needs. The DBA manager identifies production system management tasks from daily operations to monitoring to upgrades and sets priorities, ensuring that team members provide the required level of operational support and adhere to best practices. The DB manager will work with administrators to handle production incidents, and escalations related to user accessor Data Management issues.
- The DBA Manager is responsible for planning and implementing production system database reporting and documentation related to database activities.
- The DBA Manager is responsible for ensuring audit and regulatory compliance reporting and documentation.
- The DBA Manager is expected to lead the team in resolving database issues when they arise within committed SLAs to customers.
- Experience in advanced monitoring techniques and automation scripts.
- Expertise in designing HA, DR, Backup, and retention architectures.
- Understanding of cloud and on-premises storage solutions and how database platforms perform on these solutions.
Required Qualifications for This Role
Education:
- The candidate must have at a minimum a bachelor’s degree in technology related programs such as information technology, computer science, or engineering.
- An advanced degree in IT, data management or specialized training in database administration is a strong plus.
Experience:
- A candidate for this position must have at least 10-15 years of work experience in the Cloud Database Administration field and at least 3-4 years as a manager.
- Availability of 24x7 production environments managing 10+ database administrators.
- Strong hands-on experience in at least any of the two database platforms like Microsoft SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
Soft skills:
- The candidate must possess very strong verbal, and written communication skills as well as presentation skills.
- The candidate must be capable of effective communication with both database administrators as well as with technical management and business leadership.
- Ability to present weekly/Monthly Quality governance and negotiate operational requirements with project stakeholders.
- Ability to seamlessly converse with Project stakeholders/Customers on the service offerings.
Stakeholder/Escalation Management:
- Ability to lead 24/7 operations and handle any stakeholder escalation meetings for critical/major incidents, and challenges.
- Managing internal and external stakeholder expectations in demanding and tough situations.
