Job Description:
The Assistant Librarian will support the Librarian in managing the day-to-day operations of the Library.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the acquisition, organization, and maintenance of library materials, including books, journals, and electronic resources.
- Providing reference services to students, faculty, and staff, including research assistance and instruction on library resources and search strategies.
- Maintaining the library's online catalog and databases, ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Coordinating with other departments to ensure that library resources meet the needs of the college's programs and courses.
- Supervising and training library assistants and student workers.
- Performing administrative tasks related to library operations, including circulation, interlibrary loan, and collection development.
- Maintaining and updating the library's website and social media accounts.
- Contributing to the development of the library's strategic plan and goals.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Library Science (MLIS) or a related field from an accredited institution.
- At least two years of experience working in an academic library.
- Familiarity with current library technologies and systems, including online catalogs, databases, and digital repositories.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Knowledge of the field of pharmacy and related subjects is a plus.
