Primary Purpose The Senior Technical Writer is responsible for the creation of consistent and detailed documentation of product assets, creating an iterative process of versioned documentation and other assets that can be consumed by various audiences and users.
Responsibilities - Translates complex ideas into clear and concise product documentation (including help documentation, user guides, and release notes) for proprietary cloud software.
- Improves document usability by applying design standards to templates and forms.
- Partners with product experts and SMEs to gain a deep understanding of the subject matter.
- Collaborates with other teams to simplify and visualize information.
- Ensures that appropriate technical content and terminology review occurs, and that provision is made for the incorporation of updates and revisions.
- Explores alternate information delivery channels and creative methods of communication to provide the best solutions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) that covers either the technical or writing/communication sides of software development (e.g., computer science, engineering, journalism, English language studies).
- Bachelor's degree in professional writing, technical communication, or related field preferred but not required.
- 5+ years of experience in Technical writing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word products and other relevant content authoring tools, including creating and editing complex documents that use styles and content controls.
- Proficient knowledge of software tools designed for technical communication (knowledge of these programs is a plus: Adobe Creative Suite, Confluence, Camtasia, Snagit, Visio, Scroll Viewport).
- Ability to be hands-on with deploying and using our products and related technologies to produce detailed, accurate, and up-to-date documentation.
- Portfolio that demonstrates ability to develop, restructure and re-write effective technical documentation for various audiences and role types
- Ability to problem solve and work independently across one or more projects on a deadline.
- Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Product Managers, Development Engineers, etc. to craft well thought out content.
